"We have used Beko’s Tree for several years now, for both planned and emergency projects, and are grateful for their service! Beko is smart and professional, he prices his work fairly, and he is quick to help when trees have blocked our driveway. He provides sage advice on how to best approach dead and leaning trees, and how to best approach big trees on our high bank property. We highly recommend Beko’s!"

"These guys did a fantastic job removing a whole lot of blackberry vines and a ton of ivy from an overgrown area of my property. They also cut back some huge laurel hedges and did a really great job pruning a cherry tree that had been neglected for too long. Not an easy job but they got it done very quickly and everything looks fantastic."

"All aspects of this project were done efficiently, professionally. and the outcome exceeded my expectations. Communications were frequent and informative. Two maple tree stumps were removed via excavator, vs. grinding/chipping. This resulted in the area being free of roots and debris. I am very happy with the results. The price was very reasonable. I highly recommend this company. Pictures include before and after."

"Great Job, was able to change day and show up for an earlier date to get a quote. We decided on a reasonable price for the work that day and started work two days later. They stated the work could take 2 days but they finished in one day and got it all done. We were very happy with the final product. We will do services with them again."

"I had a great experience working with Greg for some stump grinding and highly recommend his company. His communication was excellent right from the start, and he was incredibly flexible when I asked to add another piece to the job at the last minute. What really impressed me was the care he took with safety and property protection. He put up solid barriers around the workspace so flying debris wouldn't be an issue. His pricing is very fair, and his cleanup was top-notch—he restored the area to its pre-job condition and honestly left it looking even better than before he started. Total professional, and I'd absolutely hire him again."

"This company is exceptional. Prompt, courteous, excellent price. We had a huge cedar removed and they were finished in 3 hours. We love trees but this one blocked our satellite dish. They cut the logs for the wood stove (we need to split) and piled the branches in a neat pile and the wood in another. Will definitely use again."

Arborists questions, answered by experts

There are several signs that may indicate a tree needs to be cut down. These include visible damage to the trunk or branches, a hollow trunk, extensive storm damage, or a significant lean to one side. Other warning signs are pest infestations or the tree growing too close to a house, power lines, or other structures. It is best to hire a professional arborist to inspect the tree, as they can determine if it can be saved or if removal is necessary.

If it’s your property, then you can plant a tree near power lines, but it’s not the best idea. Any vegetation that grows within 10 feet or so of power lines will fall under the responsibility of the utility company, and they may trim or remove it as necessary. If you do move forward with your plan, try to choose a smaller ornamental tree, plant it as far away from the power lines as you can, and keep it trimmed to avoid future problems.

Finding a reliable arborist starts with researching specialists in your area and checking their licensing and certifications. Use online resources like the Better Business Bureau (BBB) to conduct research on each company. Next, contact the arborist and ask the following questions to see whether they are the right fit for your project:

  • Do you handle or specialize in dealing with the issue I’m having?

  • Are you fully insured?

  • Do you have customer references I can call?

  • Do you have any third-party certifications?

  • What equipment and strategies do you plan to use?

A grafted tree is a tree grown by combining two trees. It takes expertise. Branches from grafted trees don’t grow strong roots. Save yourself the time and frustration by having an arborist help you with this advanced project.

You can often tell if a tree is grafted because it will have a noticeable line. Above the line, the bark will look different than it does below the line. It’s most common with fruit trees.

It can be bad to leave a dead stump in the ground. A stump becomes a hefty piece of dead wood in time and eventually (especially with the help of rain) starts to rot. That makes it a locus point for diseases and pesky insects, as well as a bit of an eyesore. It’s best to remove a tree stump completely before it starts to decay, especially before it starts to fall apart. If the tree was removed because of disease, it’s even more important to fully remove the stump if possible.
