"The individual that was sent to my house was more of an apprentice; he advised contractor was not a plumber but handyman. The kid cut a hole in the wall, put in a camera and said he didn't see anything and plugged it back up. This only took an hour...for the rest of the time he installed 3 new low flow inserts in the tank and that's it. I did not get 3 hours of plumbing services.

"I hired Home Squad to replace my HVAC unit and water heater. The work that they performed was superb. The technicians were on time and respectful of my home. They cleaned everything up when the work was finished and left it better than when they showed up! They were able to look at what the previous HVAC contractor did and made sure all the new equipment was compatible with the dimensions of where the unit previous unit was. I appreciated them allowing me to ask questions along the way during the install so I could be prepared if any future problems came up. We had a tankless water heater installed and now everything is up and running great!"

Unfinished Carpentry questions, answered by experts

Accurate measurements, sturdy materials, and seamless integration with other structures.

There are a few easy ways to locate a wall stud without a stud finder. First, try knocking on the wall with your knuckles. Most parts of the wall will sound hollow, but when you tap over a stud, it will sound more solid. Alternatively, since studs are spaced 16 or 24 inches apart, you can measure those distances from a corner of the room, which will always have a stud.

For a professional carpenter, installing a window seat can take anywhere from a few hours to a few days, depending on some aspects of the project. Aside from building the seat itself, if they have to remove any cabinets, shelves, or baseboards, that will add time to the project.

Begin by analyzing the blueprints and gathering the proper materials before framing a house. With the prep stages behind you, begin by framing the floor of a house on the newly set foundation. Exterior and interior walls come next, along with rough openings for doors and windows. Contractors will then add ceiling and roof rafters to finish things off.

Using a steel frame may raise the value of your home. Steel is more heat resistant, has better longevity, and doesn’t need any upkeep compared to traditional wood. You can also customize a steel build a little easier than other materials like brick, concrete, and vinyl—which have trouble bending and adapting to renovations.
