Hi, my name is Emily. My husband, Tony, and I own a stone fabrication/ installation business. We have both been in this industry for 12 years. We are a owner operated business. We work directly with customers from start to finish. We specialize in quartz/natural stone kitchen countertops, bathroom vanity countertops, fireplaces, and shower walls. We also accept smaller jobs like table tops, window sills & shower curbs. For those smaller jobs we do have remnants available so you don't need to purchase a large slab. But if you do need to purchase a slab, we have accounts with all the major slab wholesale facilities in Seattle/ King County. Please contact us for a free estimate. We look forward to working with you.

Fireplace Cleaners questions, answered by experts

Knowing who to hire to install your fireplace is important when it comes to having a safe place to burn a fire in your home. The best person to contact for installing fireplaces is a mason or general contractor who has a National Fireplace Institute (NFI) specialist certification. If you’re installing wood paneling, then it’s a good idea to also find a pro who is Wood Energy Technology Transfer (WETT)-certified.

Both of these certifications show that your pro is well-equipped to install fireplaces and inspect your home for the utmost safety.

Hard materials like glass, metal, and hardwood floors, washable fabrics, and undamaged electrical appliances can often be salvaged after a fire, although it depends on the extent of the damage. For washable fabrics, make sure to use a phosphate mix during the washing process to extract the smoke smell. There are a few things you should throw away after a fire, like canned foods and cosmetics, even if they don’t look like they’re damaged.

Costs depend on material type, labor, chimney requirements, and structural reinforcements.

You may have some limitations when looking for materials and a design to reface your gas fireplace versus what’s available for a traditional wood-burning fireplace. Some gas fireplace surround ideas include stone, concrete, brick, tile, wood, steel, and plaster. However, you should check with the manufacturer of your gas fireplace model to determine if you have any limitations on what you can use.

A hearth often looks like a tile or brick floor that juts out from and surrounds your fireplace. A hearth can be made of stone, brick, ceramic, or any other fireproof material. Brick offers a classic and traditional vibe, whereas a hearth made of marble or ceramic may lean more toward modern aesthetics. The most common depth of a hearth is 20 inches.
