"We had a great experience with Jo & his team! Jo made sure we took advantage of the gas company's energy rebate program & saved us thousands of dollars. His crew was professional, prompt & thorough, finishing the job in one day. They installed insulation in the crawlspace, made sure our ductwork was in good shape & even provided a new door to the crawlspace! We would hire them again in a heartbeat & highly recommend!!!"

"Harts corrected the location of the crawlspace sump pump discharge line to the location in the foundation which I originally wanted it to be located. However, we did not hear the sump pump operate under the floor when first installed. When the Harts crew changed the location of the pump discharge line, we can now hear the pump very distinctly when it operates, under the floor. I am requesting that Harts come back and listen to see if it is normal for the sump pump to make this much noise."

"They quickly came out within 30 minutes and got right to work. They completed the work in the time expected. They made sure that no mess was left behind. Most important: they fixed the problem and advised us on condition of our plumbing."

"Had Groundworks install a drainage system and sump pump in our home’s crawl space. Anthony and his crew, Jordon, Uriel, and James were Outstanding. It was a three day job. They were on time every day and worked their tails off each day. It was a muddy job in cramped quarters. They never complained. Anthony kept me updated on the progress they made each day. Anthony shared pictures of the job as it progressed. They cleaned up the job site each day. Anthony went over all the details at the completion of the job and answered all of my questions. The whole process was Great. From the initial inspection done by Kristy to the office staff and the installation. The communication was also Great. I highly recommend Groundworks for a complete and thorough job."

"Josh and Robert were great! Very friendly and knowledgeable. I would recommend them to anyone needing work to be done. The only not issue I had was that they told me they would be able to change the shut off valves in the bathroom without damaging the dry wall. When they were done, there were two large, unable-to-hide holes under my pedestal sink. Since it wasn’t required to replace the shut off valves to correct the leak, I wouldn’t have taken the suggestion to replace them had I not be assured that the wall wouldn’t be damaged. Now I have to hire someone to fix the drywall which is going to cost a few hundred dollars. They did correct the leak and were very nice and I would still hire them again."

Customers say: Super punctual

"These guys were amazing! We had the plastic water intake valve behind the toilet burst and spray water everywhere at 4am. after cleaning up the mess we called Cahill's at about 6:45am and they arrived by 8:30am to fix the valve, which took them like 15 minutes. I asked them about doing all of the valves in the house (16 total) and they agreed to come back at noon to do all of them. At exactly noon they were back at my house and had all the valves changed out in less than 2 hours. They were friendly, clean, polite, and provided excellent customer service. Jason and Harry were the team that came to my house and I would highly recommend them. And thanks to Russell, the owner, for giving us a great deal on the work his team did. We will be calling on Cahill's for any future plumbing needs."

Sump Pump Installation questions, answered by experts

Costs depend on pump type, labor rates, and the extent of repairs or installation needs.

There are a couple of similar alternatives you may consider for a sewage ejector pump, including a grinder pump or a submersible sump pump. Submersible sump pumps protect your home from flooding from outside water, though, rather than handling wastewater from inside. A grinder pump macerates, or shreds, solid waste before pumping it onward to the sewer line.

A sewage ejector pump is necessary if you have any plumbing fixtures, such as a bathroom, laundry room, or sink, located below the level of your home's main sewer line. Standard plumbing relies on gravity to move wastewater and solid waste to the municipal sewer or septic tank. However, for fixtures located below grade (e.g., in a basement), gravity is not sufficient.

The purpose of a sewage ejector pump is to actively pump this wastewater and solid waste upward into the main sewer line. Without an ejector pump in this situation, wastewater would have no way to exit and would eventually back up, causing a sewage overflow or flooding in your basement. If all of your home's plumbing is on the main floor or higher, gravity can handle the drainage, and an ejector pump is not needed.

The difference between an ejector pump and a sump pump lies in their purpose and design—an ejector pump functions to remove liquid gray water and soft solid sewage waste from your home. If you have a laundry room or bathroom in your basement, an ejector pump for your sewage tank prevents sewage from backing up in your washing machine or bathroom’s drains.

A sump pump is designed to remove excess groundwater that may enter your home, either due to flooding or periods of heavy rain.

One common reason a sump pump stops working is improper sizing. Different locations need different sizes and power ratings of sump pumps depending on the typical amount of water the pump needs to manage. If your sump pump is too small for the quantity of water, it can overwork and either burn out or reduce the life of the unit. If the pump is too big, it can overwork and burn out early.
