"The Bricks Doctor came out and tuck pointed the outside of my house and chimney within 7 days. They had to replace a few bricks and did it at no cost. I have a big house so I was amazed with their timeline. They did an amazing job on my 8 ft high chimney. Their crew of 4 people finished the job with precision."

"Outstanding company. Not cheap but they are totally worth it. They did beautiful winding path in our front yard 4/2019 and just completed a 70 foot long path and stairs in our back yard. Manuel was the lead guy and Holly was the sales lady. Their customer service is the best that I've encountered. They are very keen on pleasing the customer. Manuel obviously takes a lot of pride in his work. Once they start working they come every day M-F and work hard for about 8 hours. No annoying long pauses while they start another project. "John John Concrete did a fantastic job, was responsive, from first quote to completion of project was about 2 weeks. They were incredibly fast. Price was so much better than any quotes I got from other contractors, I didn’t even have to negotiate. Will be using them again on our next concrete project. Highly recommend."

"Steve came over and gave us some good news (not a foundation problem), but also gave us a reference to someone who repairs concrete for the type of problem we have. He really knew all about these issues and told us some signs to look for that would indicate a real foundation problem. Very pleasant company to deal with."

Masonry questions, answered by experts

The best tool for drilling into brick or mortar is a rotary hammer drill which is a large hammer drill with low rotation speed and high torque. Regular drills with a hammer function are also excellent tools for drilling into brick when the diameter of the hole is 1/2 inch or less. It might be possible to drill into brick with a standard drill if you’re only drilling a very small hole, but note that masonry work will put a lot of wear on a standard drill, and the tool may not be strong enough to get through brick.

Rock salt and ice melts contain sodium chloride, aka salt, and are corrosive to metal and concrete. If used frequently over time, it can cause corrosion, discoloration, chipping, and cracking to patios, walkways, and driveways. You can try a rock salt alternative or hire a professional snow removal company instead.

Common causes include weather exposure, moisture, and settling. Regular maintenance prevents significant damage.

The difference between river rock and landscaping rocks is size, smoothness, and use. River rocks are smooth and flat, as if polished by water, and come in diameters between 1 and 8 inches. Landscape rock can vary in size from small pea gravel installations to car-sized boulders. However, landscaping and river rocks are interchangeable in many situations. River rock is best for pathways, walkways, garden bed mulch, water features, and planting accents, while small landscape rocks can serve as a walkway base, gravel playground areas, and filler between pavers.

Dekton is worth the money for homeowners who want a nonporous countertop that resists heat, stains, water, scratches, and UV damage. It comes in a wide array of colors and patterns at various price points to suit different renovation budgets. Dekton is not worth the cost for homeowners who are particularly worried about chipping or cracking.
