"Absolutely Great ! I would hire them again. Erick was helpful and his team led by Joshua were proficient and very personable. They painted very hard to reach areas and their attention to detail was excellent. Very happy with the results."

"great! - would definitely use Christopher & Company again. We thought we had some wood rot, but when carpenter arrived, he found it was just stained, not rotted. He did find a section on top part of house that had some damage and replaced that for us. Work was done quickly, he was very tidy, complete and clean up was excellent. very professional!

"Scott and his team are fantastic, and I recommend them without hesitation. We were very happy with their work last summer. All of Scott's crew was courteous and professional. I felt very comfortable with them being around my home for the duration of the project (around a week, I believe). Scott dropped by frequently to monitor the work and stayed close to the details. He communicated clearly and frequently with me so that I knew the status of the job.
On the south side of our house, we had a few siding boards that were split or badly bowed out. Scott's crew replaced these before they started the staining work. The new boards look perfect. Another provider had mentioned it would be difficult to find a match for our siding. Scott never mentioned this, and the match is great.
In addition to needing staining/painting for our whole house, we had a window that was damaged (frame was rotting), and it needed to be repaired/replaced. Scott had a window specialist on his team come to take a look. He identified that we had special custom windows from a local manufacturer, and we would be better off working directly with that manufacturer. I appreciated him being candid about this rather than trying to sell us something that may not be a good match.
One thing I particularly admire is how well Scott seems to treat his team members. The July week they worked at our house was really hot. Scott called me halfway through Friday and said that he was taking the entire company to the beach for a break. They had been working in the scorching heat all week, and everyone just needed a break. He apologized for any impact this might have for our project, but he said this was important for his crew. I really respected both the way that Scott communicated with me about this and how he takes care of his team.
We are likely to paint the interior of our house some time in the next few years. I plan to reach out to Tenhulzen painting at that time, as I'd be very happy to work with them again.

Deck Staining questions, answered by experts

Yes, staining or sealing a cedar deck or fence is highly recommended to extend its lifespan, typically by five to 10 years. While cedar is naturally resistant to mold and mildew, it can still fall victim to moisture, sun exposure, and rot over time. Applying a treatment creates a protective shield that helps prevent splintering, fading, and decay, preserving the wood's strength and appearance. A combination stain and sealer often provides the best protection, as it soaks into the wood grain rather than just sitting on top. This offers superior defense against UV damage and rot and lasts longer than a sealer alone. To maintain the wood's natural look, consider using a near-translucent stain. You should plan to reapply the stain or sealer every two to three years.

Always sand a deck before repainting so the wood is smooth and ready for paint. While you do not need to fully remove paint before repainting, sanding helps remove any areas with weather and sun damage. Sanding also helps remove chipped or flaking paint and opens the wood pores to improve paint adhesion.

An exterior paint job typically lasts between 5 and 10 years, though this can range from 3 to 17 years depending on several factors. The longevity is influenced by the quality of the paint and primer, the quality of the application, the local climate, and the type of surface being painted. For example, paint on wood siding may need to be redone every 3 to 7 years, while painted brick can last up to 17 years. Aluminum siding often needs repainting every 5 years.

Yes, professionals offer slip-resistant options for added workplace safety.

If you have a smooth, already bonded concrete surface, painting a concrete pool deck can be a great way to brighten up the area and add longevity. If the surface has another covering or a different type of paint has been used previously, you won’t be able to paint it without removing the existing coating. Wooden decks benefit from painting as it helps to keep them watertight. Quality pool deck paints also help make the surface less slippery and less likely to gather mold and mildew or prematurely crack.
