"Juan and his team from GS Custom Builders did an absolute wonderful job in my kitchen. I had been look to hire someone for a while but was hesitant about hiring just anyone, a coworker of mine recommended them and she was not lying about him. They were very professional and their work ethics are beyond my expectations. Im in love with the new kitchen, I already let Juan know that he will be re modeling my master bathroom this summer."

"I have been raving about Jim the Handyman to all of my friends and family! I desperately needed my master bathroom shower corners and around the pan re-caulked. I also needed new peel and stick tile laid in my guest bathroom where I had builder grade 1990s vinyl tile. Jim the Handyman did an estimate with a reasonable price. The installer showed up on time, was friendly, professional, worked hard and did a beautiful job on both things. I will be using them again for other jobs. It is hard to find a good handyman, especially one who will do the smaller jobs and be reasonably priced. I highly recommend them. Give them a call!!"

"It went very well overall. Both gentlemen, the one who came out initially to assess and the one who came out to perform the actual work were pleasant and prompt. My only wish is that I should have had them caulk around some of the windows and doors while they were here. I inquired about it but he stated that it wasn't common practice in his experience. Interestingly enough after contacting  an uncle home contractor/builder found out it is actually common practice and a good idea. Was a bit of a bummer as I had at least an extra hour left to utilize on my deal. But the actual work they performed was done well.

"I emailed House Doctors with a detailed list of all the things I needed done (see list above). All were pretty straightforward and none required highly skilled tradesman such as plumbers or electricians. Upon receipt of my email Amanda from House Doctors called and said that given the extensive and varied list of things I wanted done it would be better to have someone come out and do an in-person estimate. Since I fully expected to use House Doctors because of their high rating on Angie's List, I agreed to this (understanding that the $50 charge would be absorbed as part of the final bill). The owner, Hugh, came out in person and did a thorough review. He estimated the amount of time it would take to get everything done -- which he thought would be about 11 hours. We also discussed the supplies I would need to purchase and have available for the repair people. The price quoted was $99/hr, and he thought that the work could be done in one long day. They were able to schedule someone to come out the very next day, and I appreciated the promptness of service. One of their experienced handyman Benny showed up right on time (8:00 am). A few minutes later a junior assistant also arrived (don't remember his name) -- Benny did not know him and was meeting him for the first time as well (and in fact hadn't even been aware that they were going to send an assistant). Benny asked the junior person to take on the (simple) task of filling in the small cracks in the wood trim molding, which he did by starting this work on the ground floor staircase up to the main floor. Benny began with the four toilet repairs. I was in my upstairs office working. A few hours later, Benny came in to ask if I knew where his assistant was. I said no, since I had not left my office since they arrived. We both went downstairs and saw that the assistant had apparently left the house altogether without saying anything (!), and we quickly realized why. He had literally *slathered* the caulking all over the wainscoating of the stairwell, instead of just applying a tiny little bead to fill in the slight crack in the molding, and then quickly wiping off any excess. He had then let the caulking dry in this messy state, so that it was completely hardened, and totally messed up the molding and the wainscoating itself over several square feet of area, all of which had been in excellent condition before that!!! Needless to say Benny was as distraught about this as I was -- the kid's small amount of "work" had actually created significant damage that wasn't there when he started. Benny confirmed that he would make sure to make it right before leaving. Once done with some other tasks, Benny returned to the staircase problem, and proceeded to clean off, sand it down, and then repaint the entire white wainscoating and molding (and even the stair rail!), which of course took him well over an hour (for which I was not charged). My walls were painted a dark tan, and in repainting the molding, some white paint got on the darker wall paint, so Benny asked if I had any touch up paint for the walls to fix that. I found some and left it with him in the front foyer. Following the fixing of the disaster caused by his 'colleague', Benny went on to work on the several extra tasks. The additional work to fix what the assistant had done also meant that Benny was not able to complete all the tasks he had intended to that day, and had to schedule to return the following day. At the end fo the day, I went downstairs to look at the various things that had been done during the day. While the damage the assistant had done had been fixed nicely, I noticed immediately that paint had been dropped on a jute carpet I had in my front foyer. Benny said the paint can had been leaking and therefore left some paint on the rug (I am baffled why no drop cloth was being used????). Apparently he had attempted to clean it, but of course with jute this just creates a huge water stain and discoloration in the affected area, totally (and permanently) damaging the rug. In addition, the white carpet on the first floor stairs was filthy and stained, presumably by dark shoes (I don't know if the junior assistant did that - but it was a mess). I noted both these issues with great concern, but rescheduled Benny to return the next day to complete his final task on the list. That evening I spent an hour or so doing a first cut at cleaning the stairway carpet -- I got a lot of the stain out but not all of it. The following morning I did another cleaning, using a special carpet spot remover, and that helped -- the carpet was much cleaner. Later in the week I did a third cleaning that brought it back to normal. Also in the evening I received a call from Amanda who asked how things had gone. I shared with her the tale of the disappearing assistant and the problems related to the carpet damage. I also noted that because of the need to fix what the assistant had done, Benny was unable to finish everything in one day, and would return the following day. Benny called the next day when he completed another job and showed up promptly to complete his final task to repair a shelf and finish some caulking, all of which was done very well. At that time I also pointed out to him that of the four toilets he worked on (to replace the standard innards), two of them were now leaking. (I had also mentioned that to Amanda the previous night.) Benny attempted to fix these, but couldn't -- the problem appeared linked to the push in-out shut off valves that were installed by the builder when the house was constructed 10 years ago, which had never been touched before this, but apparently are prone to this type of problem. I had researched the problem on the internet and concluded that I needed to have them replaced with normal knob valves, by a plumber, but that would have to wait until another day.... Besides the issue of the carpets and the toilets, I should note that all the jobs on my list were completed very well and in a timely manner. Benny was extremely professional and responsible, and a pleasure to work with. In the end, when paying Benny for the work he did, I once again noted the issue of both the dirty stair carpet (which fortunately as noted I was able to correct with a considerable amount of my time), as well as the front foyer jute area rug, which unfortunately could not be fixed. I provided my credit card, but said that I would be calling Amanda to request compensation for the jute rug. On the following Monday, I did speak with House Doctors regarding my situation, and Amanda passed my call on to Hugh, the president. I explained the long story once again, and expressed my concern about the damage that had been done. Hugh apologized for the problems and noted that there should have been better supervision of the junior assistant (who I hope they no longer employ!!!!). He also agreed to discount me $150 for the value of the rug I needed to replace. All in all, I would say that the experience with House Doctors was very mixed. While I most definitely appreciate the responsibility that the company took for the damage they caused (both in terms of spending the time to fix what could be fixed, and providing financial compensation for the rest), I frankly would have much preferred to not have had all the hassle to begin with -- there's no way to compensate for the hours of time I had to deal with all of this. When I was making my final payment over the phone with Amanda, she mentioned that they could get me the certified plumber to fix the toilet valves. After the experience I had just had with House Doctors, however, I honestly did not trust them to get me someone good, so decided to go with a plumber I had used previously for something else. When considering handyman services in the future, I doubt I would use House Doctors again -- while they have received many positive ratings on Angie's list, I also note that recent reviews have been increasingly variable, which would frankly make me nervous about using them for other work."

Treehouse Builders questions, answered by experts

Yes, proper grounding rods and conductors are essential for an effective system.

Increases living space and adds value to the home through enhanced utility.

In most cases, you can attach a greenhouse to any type of house. However, certain factors need to be considered, such as the structural integrity of the house, available space, and local building regulations. You should consult with a professional contractor or architect to assess the feasibility and ensure proper construction methods.

This is a personal choice, but if you’re in a hurry to have your garden up or feel overwhelmed by all that goes into choosing the right hydroponic garden, a professional can help you quickly get started. However, if you’re an avid DIYer, then you might prefer installing a hydroponic garden on your own.

Before you get started on your hydroponic garden project, decide on your garden’s location. For a small office or home garden, consider an indoor hydroponic garden. Contrarily, if you plan on making a profit from your hydroponic garden, you might need to rent land or indoor space to grow your plants.
