"I hired Jovel to build stairs, retaining walls and planters connecting my existing patio to a new patio that I also hired Jovel's company to build. The stairs, retaining wall and planters were completed in September. In October, I had a licensed inspector at my home for another project and he pointed out that the stairs Jovel had built did not meet code. The inspector stated that stairs must be of equal rise and the lower and upper stairs were not in acceptable range with the other two. He also stated that three or more stairs required a handrail and that the stairs were POOR construction. Jovel has refused to correct the issue or refund any money paid. "Travis Lane made a great first impression when we initially met. It was apparent from his preliminary questions at the first site visit, that he cared about his clients needs. We have a small, tight backyard which was always wet so we hardly used it. Our goals were to install a swimming pool, resolve drainage issues and replace lawn with plants, and hardscaping. Travis Lane brought us a preliminary design that would fit our needs and our budget. His hardscape and swimming pool design was on point for our wishes and we made minimal changes to his primary drawings. Travis submitted his professional plans to the county and our HOA and they were easily approved. During the course of construction Travis Lane started on time and was always here when he said he would be here. We did hit more rock than expected during the excavation which increased costs beyond the contingency in the budget. This took us over budget but was unavoidable to get the pool we wanted. We were out of town during excavation and so didn't have to listen to the hammers that week. After enjoying for a year and a half now, we have so much more use of our backyard for all seasons. My husband uses the spa pretty much every day after his daily bicycle ride after work. The pool is a great way to cool off when its really hot in the summer too. Travis made a custom stone bench with gas fireplace. The year round use for this is awesome! Travis was also able to give us a small negative edge on the pool. This is a great place to sit next to and drown the sound of the neighbors out. The plants incorporated in the design are filling in very nicely and provide us with color throughout the growing season. Some shrubs/trees died after installation (which took place in hot weather) but they were replaced under warranty. A few of the replaced plants perished, and we are learning what thrives in different parts of the yard. We enjoy all the visiting pollinators, which we did not have before. All in all Travis was great to work with. He and his crews worked very hard and the craftsmanship is amazing. After a year and a half, we notice no wear in the paved patio, plaster, and masonry work. Early in the project we found times when Travis did not communicate plans well, but this improved over time. We would recommend him for a design and build project. The end results demonstrate real craftsmanship and the integrity of his work is evidence of his experience in the industry."

"I sure was hoping to post a better review here for Blue Ridge Landscaping, however that is not the case based on the events that have unfolded. My handicapped mother and I split the cost of privacy trees for our new house. Over $6500 in total and all we have asked Steve to come back and fix the ones that have blown over. We paid an extra amount for him to come out and put stakes in the ground after they were initially installed, but they didn't seem to hold up. When he left that day he said "If you or your mom need anything, please call me". He seemed sincere, so Ididn't worry. Well we since have called and texted many times as the trees are sideways as you can see from the pictures. The only response I got was "Ok" one time and never heard from him or BRLS again. We got this referral from a local person and thought based on the google reviews, we should be good to go."

He took his time to explain the technology, his reasoning for the proposal, the timeline, and the options and tradeoffs. His quote was the most competitive among the 4 I received, and he took care of everything. We had a couple of hiccups due to weather, but he otherwise delivered on the schedule he promised the day he provided the quote. The team was fast (completed the project in about 6 hours) and very neat. Very happy with the outcome."
