"Joshua Madison was punctual and professional as Introduced himself to me and identified company for whom he worked. He verified, with me, that he was at the correct home and then explained the process he used for his inspections. Throughout the day he kept me informed of his progress and if I ventured into the area he was working, he stopped and showed me various connections and pipes which I found interesting and educational. Joshua was knowledgeable about the wiring and plumbing in a well structured home of 111 years and I appreciated him sharing information with me. I would easily recommend Joshua Madison and his company, Ridge & Valley Home Inspection, LLC, to anyone who asked. He did a wonderful job and I had my digital copy of his report in less then 24 hours with photographs and notes as needed. Triple AAA Service!!"

"Top notch work! These guys really want the customer to be happy with the job. I had 200 Amp Service installed plus a 50 Amp sub-panel on a new garage. Brad Basham came out to do the estimate and he was one step ahead of me the whole way knowing exactly what was needed for a quality job exceeding my expectations. He suggested a surge suppressor on the panel for my needs before I did after describing my requirements and use of the electric service. I wanted a particular sub-panel for a 50A RV hook-up and he understood why and went out of his way to get the proper equipment. The guys showed up and did a better job than I could. They would even ask for my input on multiple ways to run the service and sub-panel to make sure the customer was happy. Unbelievable top notch work from start to finish."

Home Inspection questions, answered by experts

Mobile homes need releveling every so often to maintain their structural integrity. Most mobile home manufacturers recommend releveling every three to five years. To keep the quality of your mobile home up for years and to avoid deterioration over time, proper maintenance is key.

You can look at the duct damper’s lever to see if it’s open or closed. If the lever is parallel to the duct, the damper is open. If it’s perpendicular, the damper is closed. Alternatively, you can hold your hand against vents throughout your home. If you feel air coming out, that damper is partially or fully open. No airflow likely means that the damper is closed.

Yes, deck footings typically require an inspection before laying down concrete. While not all local building codes require footing inspection, proper placement ensures a safe and structurally sound deck. An inspector will verify that the deck can adequately hold what you put on top of it., and that the footings have been dug to the correct dimensions.

Part of a pre-drywall inspector’s job is ensuring all work done on the home is up to code. If they discover anything that doesn’t comply, these fixes may be required by the local government or by the lender financing the build. Aside from these mandatory post-inspection home repairs, it’s technically optional to make any other repairs—though it’s a good idea to remain proactive about them to avoid a bigger issue in the future.

Measure from zero on a measuring tape by placing the metal hook right up against the edge of what you need to measure. You can also latch the hook onto an open edge—of, say, a table—to accurately measure as well. If you begin at the 1-inch mark, you'll need to subtract an inch from your total.
