"Sylvestre Gonzalez and his pleasant crew did a great job with the landscaping and trimming. Everything was cleaned up afterwards and hauled away. We will recommend him to others and most likely call him again for future yard work."

"Very skilled crew took down 2 mature oaks (each ~100 feet tall) in close proximity to a carport, a neighborâ s fence, and a dogwood tree. They dismantled the trees, chipped the smaller branches, cut and loaded out the bigger trunk pieces all without damaging anything. They worked quickly, cleaned up all the debris, and were all very friendly in the process. Weâ ve used H&C before and weâ re likely to use them again."

"David gave me what I considered a fair estimate. David and his crew arrived to do the job two days later. This was an enormous relief because the dead pine was threatening the house. They did a beautiful job. They took pains to clean up! Beautiful job. I will be hiring him again as I have a couple more jobs that need doing."

"Gordon came out to give the estimate on Sunday afternoon and the project was finished on Thursday. It only took them about 2 hours to repair and reshape out large maple that had 2 central trunks break. It's about 1/3 smaller now, but the crew of 5 dida great job and it should be all filled back out by next summer. They also removed a dead tree from our back yard treeline and did a lovely job pruning our overgrown crabapple in the front yard. They did such a nice job cleaning up that you wouldn't even know they'd been there. I would 100% hire them again. Very impressed and the prices were very reasonable."

"Eric was very diligent.  The yard looks very good and others have commented favorably on it.  They came when they said they were going to come.  I got what I paid for but I don’t have anything to compare it by.  Eric was very responsive and very professional.  I am considering him for some more work and I just have to contact him for that."

FAQs for brush chipping projects in Troy, VA

Topsoil costs from $12 to $55 per cubic yard, depending on the type you choose. For example, screened black dirt will cost about $15 per cubic yard. Loam (soil composed of sand, silt, and clay) costs about $17 per cubic yard. Standard screened topsoil costs about $20 per cubic yard. The type of topsoil you need depends on your landscaping plans.

Landscapers typically charge $25 to $50 per person per hour, which equals around $50 to $100 per hour for a two-person crew. These rates can vary depending on your location, the size of staff needed for the job, and overall job type. For example, a larger crew will be needed for structural additions and hardscaping versus planting flowers.

When it comes to landscapers, licensing laws vary. Landscaping architects are required to be licensed in all 50 states, whereas traditional landscaping contractors are not typically required to hold a certification. You’ll likely be working with a landscaping contractor for most residential projects. If you are redesigning your whole yard or adding in hardscape features, you will work with a landscaping architect at some point during the project. Be sure to check our state licensing tool to review the local landscaper guidelines.

On the inexpensive end, red and black mulch are about $35 to $40 per cubic yard, and are typically made from recycled waste wood like shredded old pallets or deck material. Cedar, cypress, and rubber mulch cost anywhere from $100 to $120 per cubic yard. A pro can help you determine the type of mulch most suitable for your landscaping needs.

Yes, you will want to confirm that the tree removal company you hire is insured before proceeding with the job. Tree removal can be dangerous work, and it's important to verify that the company carries the proper insurance to cover any onsite accidents or damage.
