"We've had a lot of tree work done over the years. Gordon and his crew were by far the best service we've ever used. They took down a mammoth tree, pruned others, and cleaned everything up--at a reasonable cost. We recommend him with no reservations!"

"H and C Tree Service did an excellent job, they removed a large tree very close to my house, they ground the stump completely, did landscaping to cover the area the tree had occupied. The company did considerable more work on other trees, shrubs and plants. When they finished, there was no mess. The company and their employees were very professional and I highly recommend H and C and I will use them again."

Customers say: True professional

"Excellent customer service. Same day callback to my HomeAdvisor posting. Steve, Eddie and crew were personable, knowledgeable and focused on doing a high quality job. Stump Busters has state of art equipment and trained staff allowing for safe and efficient tree removal and pruning in a fairly dense wooded area. And, they were very cost competitive. Two thumbs up!"

Tree Service questions, answered by experts

Cutting down a tree next to power lines is never a DIY job, and it’s a good idea to contact your utility company first. In most cases, the utility company will need to take care of any tree problems within 10 to 15 feet of power lines. If you want to remove the tree for aesthetic reasons, hire a pro to do the job. Trying to cut trees near power lines yourself can create many safety hazards, and you could be liable if you inadvertently cause damage to electrical equipment.

Sudden oak death and oak wilt are different diseases. Oak wilt first shows up in tree leaves while sudden oak death affects the branches and trunk. However, as symptoms in both can overlap, it’s best to consult a professional arborist tree expert for a proper diagnosis and development of a treatment plan.

Ensures complete removal and mitigates risks of underground root damage.

Any tree that needs to be pruned should be pruned to remove dead branches at least once a year. You may need to prune far more often if you’re trying to maintain a certain shape or to save a tree that suddenly becomes infected.

You can find pruning paints and sealants for trees, but you shouldn’t use them on a topped tree. Coatings like these often inhibit the tree’s healing process. An important exception is if there are dangerous fungi nearby that the tree is particularly vulnerable to, like oaks and oak wilt. Sealing cuts can help prevent fungi from taking root.
