"Atomic Plumbing is my go-to company for all our plumping needs. as a follow-up after my annual SPA visit, i took Justin's recommendation to update our 4 eleven-year-old builder-grade toilets that came with the house when we purchased it in 2010. we decided to have them all completely replaced with Toto Drake comfort height toilets versus refurbishing the old ones. Chelsea kept me updated via emails. on the day of the install, Justin and Will were punctual and professional. Justin, a Master Plumber, oversaw Will as he installed the new toilets and was very meticulous throughout. during flush testing, Justin noted that while all 4 included fill valves were operational, 3 weren't to his satisfaction, so during their lunch break, they grabbed 4 new fill valves. he was very pleased with their operation after installation. upon completion of the job, they hauled away the old toilets and cleaned up so well one would never know they were here in the first place! during checkout, he made corrections to the original price quote, properly discounting for being an SPA customer and reducing the prices for the 3 subsequent toilets since they were installed during one visit (a savings of ~$700). i will continue to HIGHLY RECOMMEND Atomic Plumbing for anyone's plumbing needs!"

"Mike Hannon was professional, knowledgeable and efficient. He cleaned out a stinky shower drain and replaced a leaky toilet valve system. I would highly recommend A-1 Sewer and Drain. I have used them many times."

"I posted a request for service to clear a clogged drain on Angi late Sunday evening. Outcome Repairs was one of several firms to respond but was the only one that offered to make an appointment for the next morning. They kept the appointment and successfully cleared the clog. The technician was friendly, worked neatly, cleaned up after the job was done. He had explained the pricing policy and billed the job accordingly. He was knowledgeable about what he needed to do and confidently proceeded to complete the job. Overall I was very satisfied with the work. The technician was excellent in all regards. He is certainly a great asset to the company. I highly recommend Outcome Repairs."

"Five plumbing companies provided quotes to replace the main sewer line and install an in-ground clean out at my house. Mr. Rooter's quote was not the least expensive but it was the most reasonable and professional. Every person I dealt with was consultative, courteous and good at what they do. The work started on time and finished in about 4 hours. The only surprise was a good one: the technician discovered a second clean-out needed to be installed at the street end and did that at no additional cost, a good job done right. Everything cleaned-up neatIy afterward including the street. I watched the excavator operator do his thing and was impressed to see surgical precision achieved with heavy equipment and a joystick - from digging the trench in a narrow section next to the house, to filling it back in and then grading it perfectly (it rained heavily about an hour after work finished and all the runoff flowed exactly where it's supposed to go). One week, 14 long showers, 10 giant loads of laundry and countless toilet flushes later, the outflow is working better than it ever did before. Happy to recommend Mr. Rooter Plumbing without hesitation."

Sewer Cleaning questions, answered by experts

An active cleaning agent and a drain snake is the best way to clean a main sewer line. You can purchase a regular or enzyme drain cleaner or make a DIY drain cleaner with baking soda. Use your chosen solution at least once a month or as needed to keep your sewer line clear.

Snakes can occasionally enter homes through shower drains, although it’s quite rare. This can happen when they follow sewer pipes or accidentally find their way into plumbing systems. To minimize the risk, consider installing drain covers or stoppers on your shower drains. Always keep drains closed when they’re not in use, especially in areas where snakes are known to be active.

One way to save money on sewer lines is to install a sewer cleanout since it makes sewer line maintenance easier. Keeping up with maintenance is key to reducing the cost of repairs, so be sure to schedule annual plumbing inspections, install drain guards to stop objects from accidentally falling down drains, and only flush human waste and toilet paper to protect your pipes.

If the toilet is overflowing but there’s no clog, that’s a sign that the issue is deeper in the system, and plunging may not help. A blockage in your home’s plumbing, the plumbing vent, or even city sewer lines can cause toilets to overflow. The issue could also be the toilet itself if the filler float isn’t set to the correct height or if parts are damaged or worn out.

The cost to unclog a drain varies based on the location and severity of the clog. For simple clogs within your home, such as in a sink, toilet, or shower, hiring a plumber typically costs between $110 and $350, with an average of around $200. Snaking a toilet or sink usually costs between $110 and $275, while a bathtub or shower clog costs about $225.

For a more serious clog in the main sewer line, the cost is higher. Clearing a main line clog generally costs between $200 and $600, with an average of about $380. However, prices can range from as low as $100 for snaking a minor clog to over $1,600, particularly if advanced methods like video inspection and hydrojetting are needed for a large or hard-to-reach blockage. Some severe main line clogs can cost upwards of $1,000 to clear depending on factors like the cause of the clog, its distance from an accessible cleanout, and whether the pipe is located beneath an occupied space (e.g., in an apartment building). You may be able to save money on minor clogs by using a drain snake or bladder yourself.
