The change was pretty remarkable. Prime were attentive in the planning phases, attentive to our concerns, and full of good suggestions for salvaging what we thought was an unsalvageable space. Agustin, one of the project managers, was on site every other day checking on work and providing really helpful advice. And the everyday work guys were polite, friendly and hardworking. We never felt like we were being forced into anything, nor did we feel we lacked support. These guys don't nickel and dime and they do seem to care about the client. They felt entirely trustworthy. When it comes to big home renovation projects the finished product is never going to be 100% what you envisioned. But Prime came pretty darned close. Based on the basement work we're now getting them to paint the interior of our house and replace all the trim. Hopefully it will go as well as the basement. Thoroughly recommended. His office is on Capitol Hill and I took that into consideration as well. I called John Himchak the owner and he swung by because he was doing a job literally around the corner from us. John looks like a concrete guy, big guy with massive arms and shoulders and he really knows concrete. My brother who lives in Montana does lots of work with concrete and had given me a list of things to look for. John filled out the work order and every single item my brother mentioned was on the work order. And he also has a 25 year guarantee on his work. Then we come to today. John mentioned his crew led by Jose would be around between 8:00 and 9:00 AM. They showed up at 7:45 AM and the four guys in the crew worked nonstop. First they cleaned out all of the debris, the old slab that was only part of the area they were going to pour and lots of weeds and a massive tree stump. They even took out an enormous piece of concrete that was protruding into our yard. Jose even suggested a step down to our sidewalk as part of the pour. After they cleaned up the mess they brought in four inches of gravel, then put in wire mesh and rebar. When the cement guy came at 11:00 AM they were ready for him. By 3:30 they had cut the wet concrete and applied the broom finish. And to top it all they left the work area very, very clean and put up a yellow caution tape so people won't run over the concrete as it dries. If you want to have concrete work done don't look any further than JHI Contracting. John, Jose and their crew are great!!!!! Rocky and his team setup quickly to reduce the amount of dust and debris by setting up a barrier between living area and work area. Once the barrier was in place, the foundation was dug out in specific areas plus cracks identified and filled. Testing was performed by pouring water into the areas dug out to make sure that the water would head to the sump. Additional rock was poured in prior to the pouring of concrete. Patching was completed in the \"pipe entry\" points on the side of the foundation. Panels were put into place, then new concrete was put in. Rocky and team cleaned up, removed barriers, and left things as was or better than they left it. It took a couple of days for concrete to cure/dry and such. The job required ripping out most of the bathroom, including a Jacuzzi. He had to remove the flooring, jack hammer out sections of concrete slab, move pipes and drains, replace the concrete, build out an entire new Italian style walk in shower with decorative tile and glass, and install all the new fixtures. Also installed a new tile floor for the whole bathroom. The kicker is that we had to do this - start to finish - in less than three days. I was nervous. I asked if he could, no kidding, do it in that amount of time - because I was going to be in trouble if we didn't finish on time. He said he could, and he did! And it was excellent work - perfect. Also, he thought to put down plastic over everything to protect from the concrete jack hammer dust which was hard to contain.
Subsequently we did a kitchen remodel and moved some floor drains, put in a new floor, changed the location of a door, put in a whole new breaker box, ran new outlets and switches, and took care of some cement patch work needed behind a wall when we tore in there. All went great. Total success. There were some other contractors (granite and cabinets) involved and the integration was very smooth.
Most recently we needed to put in a trench drain in a cement and slate patio to prevent possible flooding into a basement. For that project, I was tied up with other work so I just described what I needed over the phone. He knew what was needed, he got it done perfectly. I wouldn't do that with most people, but he is smart, he listens well, and he knows what he is doing."},"url":"https://www.angi.com/companylist/us/md/bethesda/peter-glaser-construction-inc-reviews-6213123.htm"},"position":10}]}

Disappointing. It took three months, and constant email requests, for the work to be done. When it was done the first time, they did not call or advise they were coming, and the work itself was very shoddy; unfinished sections, rough uneven sections, discolorations and a mess for my tenants...

All went well until it rained when they poured the concrete in the rain. The coping was a mess and they applied a different color of concrete on it to patch it. the concrete around the pool was uneven. We told them about it and they said they would apply an epozy covering over it in the fall....

FAQs for concrete finishing projects in Stephens City, VA
Concrete repair costs range anywhere from about $0.10 to $0.15 per linear foot to fill minor cracks, to about $6 to $14 per square foot to replace damaged concrete slabs. Repair costs vary widely depending on the size and type of work needed. For example, replacing 100 square feet of driveway will cost between $600 to $1,400, on average.
The average cost of stamped concrete is around $12 per square foot, but you might pay anywhere from $8 to $28 per square foot. The average 12-foot by 12-foot patio costs $1,730 on average. Your exact pricing will depend on the patio’s square footage, the condition of the area where you want to pour the concrete, the desired stamp pattern, concrete coloring, concrete grade, and local labor prices. Don’t forget to budget for extra costs like land preparation and additional concrete fortifications if necessary.
Depending on the cost to repair your driveway, it may be more cost effective to tear out and replace it with a new concrete driveway. The cost to repave a driveway ranges between $1,400 and $12,100, including removal of the old concrete. Contact a reputable concrete contractor for advice and an estimate. They may have a good reason for going with repairs or replacement after assessing your driveway. You may also have the option to resurface your driveway or pave over it without taking out the existing one.
It’s possible to create stamped concrete yourself, but we don’t recommend it and it’s often not cost-effective. It’s easy to mess up the pattern of a stamped concrete patio or walkway, leaving you with an unsightly home exterior rather than the elegant solution you wanted. Any mistakes made during the ground leveling and concrete pouring process will also increase the risk of cracks forming on your concrete. Additionally, buying enough stamps to get the pattern in before your concrete cures can cost as much as hiring a professional to do the work for you.
Concrete contractors typically charge anywhere from $6 to $14 per square foot. Cost factors include job size, site prep, base material, accessibility, your location, concrete finish, and concrete thickness. Removal of existing concrete, asphalt, deck, pavers, and grass will cost anywhere from $1 to $6 per square foot. Homeowners can often save money by removing and disposing of existing pavers, decks, and grass. Breaking up and hauling away concrete and asphalt is difficult and time-consuming without the proper equipment and may be worth having the pros do that work.
