"Time and time again, Timur goes above and beyond the call of duty. His work is OUTSTANDING and I rarely say that about anyone. As long as he is in business, I’ll continue to hire him. I would advise my fellow Angie’s list members to do the same. That is if you need drywall work done in Northern Virginia. Just sustained superior performance !"

"I am extremely pleased with the work provided. Mike arrived on time, was able to perform each task that I requested, is professional, pleasant and very competent. He fixed a door that two other handyman had told me to replace instead. He worked quickly and was extremely neat - vacuuming up and making sure that no dust was left in the area of the repairs, taking away all trash, etc. Mike is a thorough professional and I would call him again for any future repairs."

"I had a fantastic experience with TCL Remodeling for my drywall repair. From the very beginning, their communication was outstanding—they were always prompt to respond and kept me in the loop the entire time. The pricing was very fair and transparent, and the quality of the work was great. You can’t even tell there was damage to begin with, and they left the area completely clean. I would recommend to anyone needing reliable and professional service!"

"We had 3 separate water leaks - two related to old/cracked mortar and one related to a skylight. Mark and his team were amazing. Quickly found the problems. Tested to make sure the fixes to those problems fully addressed the leaks. Repaired the inside. Taped off furniture and walls and cleaned up after. You can't tell we ever had a problem. Will definitely hire them again and have referred them to my neighbors."

Customers say: Quick response

"They came on time and worked most of the day repairing plumbing that was never connected inside of wall. They had to cut the wall out under the kitchen sink. When they were done you could not tell it had been cut. They did a wonderful job and left the area clean. They also repaired some minor work on electrical outlets. I would ues them again and/or reccommend to others"

"I recently had Joe and Sons replace my roof, repair and paint ceiling, pressure wash the house and other repairs around the house and I couldn't be happier with the results. He was punctual, professional, and completed the work in a timely manner. Not only did he fix the issues I was having, but he also went above and beyond to ensure that everything was done to my satisfaction. I really appreciated his attention to detail and his friendly demeanor. I will definitely be using his services again in the future and would highly recommend him to anyone in need of a reliable and skilled handyman."

Wall Repair questions, answered by experts

Yes, including patterns, finishes, and plant integration for aesthetic enhancement.

While vinyl is the least costly material for building a retaining wall, the most cost-effective method is to use wood or concrete blocks for a DIY retaining wall under 2 feet tall. Wood is inexpensive but lasts 20 years or more with care. Concrete can cost a little more but is stronger and will last longer with less maintenance.

Railroad ties can be good for retaining walls, but it depends on the area. They have a desirable rustic look and are durable. The problem is they’re treated with creosote, a preservative the EPA says poses a risk to humans and wildlife. Over time, the preservative seeps out of the wood and into the ground. Many areas have banned the use of creosote-treated wood on residential properties. If your area does allow it, never use railroad ties near an edible garden or drinking water source. Instead, use wood that’s treated with an EPA-approved preservative or a wood-alternative composite material.

Even if you think you know how to build a retaining wall theoretically, doing the actual work is a completely different story. There are lots of nuances in building retaining walls, and the slightest oversight can compromise their integrity. Therefore, we recommend you hire a pro to build, repair, or replace retaining walls.

A retaining wall can only function as a fence if it’s high enough on all sides to prevent someone from accidentally falling into the pool. However, most retaining walls retain dirt, which means their purpose is not related to safety. There would need to be nothing on the other side of the wall for it to be considered a fence, but in that case, it wouldn’t retain anything and would cease to be a retaining wall.
