"Ricky provided mowing and edging for me for 8 years. Originally, I relied upon him for mowing and edging a large tree-filled lot in Springfield. For the past 5 years, he has, also, provided regular gardener services, has removed 8 dead trees and ground out stumps, provides winter clean up to include removing mountains of leaves, spring cleanup of flower beds and lawn, spring mulching, shrub pruning, and sprinkler system maintenance. Recently, he redesigned my back yard and reworked the flagstone around my flower beds. My yard always looks fantastic. Carpetgrass is a low-maintenance grass requiring little fertilization that thrives in subprime growing conditions. However, regular mowing is necessary to avoid the growth of unsightly seed stalks, and you may have to water it frequently to prevent drying out the soil. That includes watering the grass over dry winters to help keep it healthy, and it may start dying out in particularly cold climates where it grows poorly. Carpetgrass can also be vulnerable to some types of turf fungus, so it’s important not to overthatch. 

Mowing at least once a week during the growing season is a good general rule. You should mow your lawn first and water it afterward, in most cases. You should not mow when your lawn it’s wet as it could clog the blades. If you haven't been watering your lawn for an extended time or your area is experiencing a drought, water your grass first. Mowing thin, wispy grass can be difficult, so allow it to become fuller and thicker before mowing. Once it looks more lush and dry, go ahead and mow.
