"Leaning cedar tree that I was a little skittish to tackle due to proximity to the house. Put a request into Angie's List last night, talked to them today at noon, at 4:00 pm they showed up, 4:05 pm the tree was dropped. Quick, cheap, efficient. Couldn't ask for more. Not only did they perform professionally, but then took over an hour to talk about other tree removal estimates, neighbor's trees that need to be cut, family, Jesus, you name it. I only spent $200, but he treated me like I'd spent $10,000. Definitely recommend."

"They were very responsive. Came out and walked the job site with me to endure they were being responsive to my requirements. Gave a excellent bid and were able to do the job within a few days. The team arrived on schedule and completed the removal of bushes and removing several years worth of pinestraw and leaves (more than 10 Cu.Yds. -compacted). Work was completed ahead of schedule and pricing was very competitive. I highly recommend Matchless Blades Lawn & Landscaping LLC."

"They were quick to respond to my request for a quote & came the same day to give me a quote. They were prompt to arrive on the day scheduled for the job, did excellent work & cleaned everything up. We plan to hire them again in the fall for the removal of a sickly tree. We would definitely recommend this company to anyone that needs tree service."

"Very pleased with the work that was done. The crew was very professional, considerate and cleaned up afterwards. The trees were between the houses and Butch was very careful as to where the branches and trunks would land after cutting. The job was done in one day."

Arborists questions, answered by experts

You need to remove all branches affected by Dutch elm disease. If your tree has several affected branches, you will probably need to remove the entire tree. First, consult a pro to be sure that you’ve correctly identified it as an elm tree. Make sure the tree is properly disposed of with a plastic covering or through debarking, chipping, or burning.

Generally, you’ll want to prune back the trunk by 1 to 2 feet each year to promote bushy growth. Doing so concentrates vegetative buds closer to the bottom of the tree, where you can easily harvest fruit. For side shoots that are a year old, leave at least six leaves.

Never remove more than 30% of a tree’s foliage during pruning—even if your tree is really overgrown. Removing this much foliage at a time could kill your tree.

If you don’t trim your palm trees, you can expect several negative outcomes, including:

  • Unhealthy palm trees attract pests, diseases, and fungi

  • Dead falling fronds can cause severe injury or damage to your home, pedestrians, or cars

  • Dead palm branches are flammable and can catch fire, especially during a lightning storm

Local tree removal prices range from $200 to $2,000 overall, but vary depending on:

  • Local cost of labor and supplies

  • Accessibility of the tree

  • Local laws regarding who is allowed to remove the tree

  • The species of the tree (softer woods are often easier to remove)

  • Local seasonal discounts for the off-season

Debris removal is often included in the overall cost of having a tree removed from your property. However, tree maintenance service companies do not always include debris removal in their pricing, so ask any contractors offering tree trimming cost estimates whether or not removal is included. If you want to keep the wood mulch, ask if they charge extra for it as well.
