Customers say: Quick response

"Installed a 20 amp dedicated circuit above cabinet for new microwave. While removing the old exhaust fan, the electrician suggested also adding an additional plug above the countertop which I thought was a very good idea. I would use their services again and thought the price was fair."

"Rob at Absolute Electric was awesome! The workmanship is of the highest quality. I'm amazed at the minimal ceiling patchwork after installation of recessed lighting in 2 rooms! Ceiling drywall damage was my biggest concern, and we were left with only a few little spots that need to be repaired! Amazing! I would not hesitate to use Absolute Electric in the future. The price, communication, and workmanship all exceeded my expectations!"

"When I called Bill Rorer, he answered his phone immediately, came to estimate the job when he said, then arrived as scheduled to work. Upon realizing he needed a piece not provided by the new fan's manufacturer, he visited a store to buy it without raising the agreed price. He installed the new fan expertly, repaired the drywall and gave me the option of applying the last coats of drywall mud myself to save money since it would've required a couple of return visits on his part because each coat of mud has to dry. He even taught me how to apply the mud and properly remove the excess. He draped the area under the repair and cleaned up well after the installation. Overall, I was very satisfied and would use him again without hesitation. I highly recommend Bill who is pleasant, efficient and very good, a real professional."

"Used the all day deal to have a ceiling fan installed in the living room (including add power to the ceiling), several new outlets inside and outside as will as removal of old junction box and outlet from previous renovation. Mike did a great job getting everything on my To-Do list knocked off!!"

Ceiling Fans questions, answered by experts

For a 12x12 room, a fan between 36" and 50" will work, as it falls in the range for spaces up to 144 square feet. These size fans provide adequate air circulation and ensure a comfortable environment without being overpowering. Even better, they come in a broad range of styles, offering aesthetics and functionality, making them suitable choices for maintaining an ideal room temperature and enhancing overall comfort.

Most ceiling fans have a lifespan of anywhere from five to 15 years or 10 years on average. Just how long your ceiling fan lasts depends on the quality of the parts, how much it’s used, and how well you maintain it. A fan with a weak motor that runs on the medium setting nonstop is likely to have a shorter lifespan compared to a fan with a powerful motor that runs on the slowest setting for air circulation.

There are many types of ceiling fans, from self-automated smart ceiling fans to outdoor ceiling fans that provide additional comfort to your patio. What you choose all comes down to function and personal taste.

Consider your ceiling height when selecting a ceiling fan. Rooms with ceilings under eight feet high will do well with low-profile ceiling fans, also known as flush-mount or hugger ceiling fans. If your home has cathedral ceilings or ceilings between 10 and 25 feet high, you’ll need a large ceiling fan with a heavy-duty motor to get adequate air circulation.

Stainless steel or aluminum fans are long-lasting and have less air resistance. They are best for outdoor use as their durability helps them withstand unpleasant weather conditions. Their heavy weight requires a stronger motor, which leads to more noise than other blade materials.

Wooden fan blades are a classic, durable option. They are much quieter than metal fans and feature a wide range of styles and finishes to choose from. However, they can be damaged by moisture if not covered with plastic.

Plastic fan blades are lightweight, easy to clean, and versatile. There are various shapes and styles to choose from as plastic is easily molded and dyed. They will also deteriorate slower than other materials as they aren’t as susceptible to humidity and moisture.

Ceiling fans can be a great way to cool your home without the expensive utility bill of running an air conditioner. Plus, ceiling fans can sometimes run in both directions, pushing hot air down in winter and pulling cold air up in summer. With that said, air conditioning might be the only thing that helps if you live in a very warm climate.
