"I would absolutely recommend Holy Land Landscaping. They did an amazing job with my yard! From the consultation Edin was professional and attentive. He offered suggestions on the best way to approach the task and had a quick turnaround on the results. My yard and hedges are immaculate. I can hardly believe it's the same yard. "The front yard of my townhouse was a mess. I had mostly weeds and dirt and a burning bush and tree that was out of control. Juilo and his crew came in and within two days, removed the burning bush, trimmed the remaining bushes, trimmed back the tree and installed a beautiful retaining wall, with river stone and perennials, and added new sod. My front lawn is now beautiful, thanks to ET. General Contractor, Inc. I highly recommend them for your landscaping project!"

"I have never done a project like the patio they did and I could not be happier with the process, and the work Mike and his team did. He helped my wife and I scope out the project and listened to what we wanted and how we wanted to use the space. His suggestions were thoughtful and the end product turned out just as we had envisioned. There was no pressure during the process and he took all the time we needed to answer questions. His crew worked incredibly hard every day they were here, and you could tell they took pride in their work, focused on little details I couldn’t even envision, and had fun while doing it. This definitely showed in the end product as it looks great and I am extremely happy with the quality."

"Craig Collins of Landscape Lighting Designers Plus clearly has a lot of expertise and listened carefully to what we wanted. I was afraid of too much light but our project turned out perfectly. Though our project was small, he gave it prompt and diligent attention, even in sweltering summer weather."

Landscaping questions, answered by experts

Yes, you can put topsoil over sand to encourage grass growth. The topsoil will help to improve water retention and promote grass roots’ development, making it a recommended step of the seeding process. Adding a layer of topsoil will provide additional nutrients to the sandy soil, helping the grass grow and remain healthy through many seasons.

A half inch above ground level is ideal for metal edging. This provides enough depth for the edging to hold in place and enough height to keep in most landscaping materials (like mulch or gravel). If you install edging too high off the ground, it will stand out from your landscaping and pose a tripping risk. If you install it too low, your ground cover won’t stay in place.

Since you’ll likely be digging a trench to install your yard drainage system, this is a good time to complete other tasks that involve digging up your yard, including: Sprinkler system installation Lawn reseeding Regrading your yard Redesigning your landscaping If your drain is under a walkway or driveway, your contractor must also remove those materials. This is a great time to consider upgrading your hardscaping features, especially if they’re nearing the end of their life span.

When planting, it's best to leave several feet between a house and a juniper bush. Many juniper varieties will become quite bushy and require space to grow. Juniper branches that come into contact with siding can damage the home's exterior over time. Also, some juniper bushes have aggressive roots that can put pressure on a home's foundation or basement walls.

The condition and appearance of your yard can affect your home appraisal value. A well-maintained, attractive yard with curb appeal adds to a property’s value, while an overgrown, messy, poorly maintained yard can hurt your home’s appraisal. Even small cosmetic improvements to your yard, like adding mulch, trimming trees, and cleaning out plant beds, can help your appraisal value.
