Customers say: Quick response

"Grout Masters can do more than grout. They removed shower doors, repaired damaged wood, saved and re-used tiles for the repair area and re-tiled the shower floor for us. They installed shower shelves and caulked everywhere needed in the bathroom. They were super knowledgeable about the process and materials. We are so happy with their work!"

"Our experience with Adrian and his crew was excellent. Frankly, we had had trouble finding someone to do this work when HomeAdvisor advised us to reach out to Adrian. He got back to us right away, got us an estimate and got us on his schedule. Considering no one else had even responded, we were amazed by the service we received. We were very impressed by the work the team did. They took care with every aspect of the installation, making sure the tiles were square to each other, getting the grout right, getting the tile right up to the edges of our old laundry room. The room looks much bigger, brighter and frankly just more usable than it did before they did their work. I recommend them highly. Anyone who can get CCR to do their work will be very pleased."

"Excellent experience and superb work. We hired them to do a major bathroom project. Price was very reasonable, helped with planning, started right away, and put in the extra hours to see that the job was done right. We would hire them again without a doubt. Thanks again!"

Ceramic Tile questions, answered by experts

Generally speaking, it is better to cut tile wet when using a fast-moving wet saw to reduce dust and chipping. However, tile can be cut dry when using just about any cutting tool. Dry cutting will result in a bigger mess and may increase the risk of chipping or cracking, but if you’re just making small cuts, dry cutting is a safe and viable option. Cutting dry also means you can apply tile grout sooner, so it’s better for rushed projects.

A quality shower tiling project is a bathroom upgrade that can increase resale value. Bathroom remodels have the highest return on investments for any home update. Tiling a shower won’t offer the potential 70% ROI that a full bathroom remodel involving upgrading fixtures, installing storage, and a complete room retile will. However, you can expect an average return of 55% to 60% for this refresh.

Natural stone floors, especially pebble-style tiling, are one of the least slippery options for a shower floor. Natural stone has a texture to reduce slickness, and pebble-shaped tiles add more visual and textural contrast while reducing slippage. Vinyl tiles are also designed with anti-slip texture for added safety. If you have a slippery tile, be sure to add a grippy shower mat to reduce the risk of falls.

You can, in theory, tile your fireplace hearth with most tiles. However just because you can, doesn’t mean you should. For example, it’s much better to use unglazed tiles because glazed tiles are more resistant to cracking under extreme heat. Porcelain is more heat-resistant than ceramic, but you can still design the hearth as you like by putting the most heat-resistant tiles directly under the fire and, if it matches your style, add more decorative tiles further from the center of the fire.

You can lay tile directly on a plywood countertop, but if it’s a high-traffic surface in a kitchen, it’s better to add a moisture-resistant base. Plywood is susceptible to moisture, so if dampness seeps through from the surface around the sink or where you prep food, it can cause the plywood to warp, leading to grout damage, cracked tiles, or mold growth under the surface.
