"I've been trying to find an expert in insulation for months to come out and tell me out to properly insulate around a removed chimney and Comfenergy was the expert I needed. Even though the insulation part of the job was too small for Comfenergy (wasn't above their minimum quote value) they were happy to give me their expert advice and I appreciate the time spent as I now know what to ask the roofing contractor to do in order to insulate this correctly. Thanks!"

"After my call to Discount Energy Services, I knew who was coming and when to evaluate my attic insulation. The estimate was prepared on-site with pricing. The workers arrived and knew exactly what they were to accomplish, which they confirmed with me. They prepared the entire path with clean drop cloths and created a plastic drape around my attic stairs. The foreman was glad to explain any aspect of the procedure. My attic was upgraded to R-49 and the difference is notable."

"Sunshine windows and siding did a great job. Workers were prompt efficient and friendly. They did a great job and left everything clean and put back in order. I had the two side windows done a few years ago the quality was ok but now comparing the workmanship to Sunshines its not even close. Everything Sunshine did was top quality. Finish and details are excellent, calking and overall trim finish is nearly perfect."

"Contractor arrived on time.
Contractor brought all materials in the house to do the job, so he did not have to go back and forth.
Service took approximately 6 hours and contractor was working the entire time.
Contractor bagged up all old insulation and drywall.
Contractor was easy to work with and very professional. I would hire him again.

"My house has a very high heating bill. I heard about Homeland Insulation from a friend and I asked them to come in and do an evaluation, after they inspected my house, the recommended their radiant barrier insulation system to be installed in my attic , they did a very clean and efficient job, they were in and out fast and clean and I must say that I am extremely satisfied with the results, I am saving a lot of money on my pepco bill, my very large house has a very pleasant overall constant temperature and I very seldom use only one of my 3 A/C Heating units. The investment has paid for itself several times over. I am a happy customer"

"We had a horrendous situation with a basement floor installation that went wrong leaving our house full of fumes, and a week later we discovered our basement was contaminated by asbestos in the process.  When we called Bill and Contractors Unlimited, they were extremely responsive.  Although other companies gave us bids, Bill was able to work his schedule to fit us in weeks sooner than the others.  Although the cost was a bit more, that saved us money because we were displaced and could not even go into our house because of the fumes.  CU set up negative air machines to replace the air, they followed asbestos abatement laws, they cleaned every item that could be salvaged in our house.  They even saved more than we thought which really reduced our overall expense.  Bill and his team were extremely professional, friendly, helpful, and really went out of their way to ease our stress from this situation.  At the end of their process, Bill arranged for a air quality inspection which we happily passed - able to return home.  I would gladly recommend Contractors Unlimited for asbestos abatement.  I just wish we had called them before the floor guys  created such a disaster.  Thank you Bill!

"Nafi, as the owner of Home Design Center, visited our home and evaluated our situation. He gave us advice on what was needed to make the basement a really enticing room that we would want to spend time in. He listened and took the time to understand what we were looking for.  We started with flooring.  We wanted a low-maintenance floor that would stand up well and be mold-resistant. He invited us into the showroom on Tyco Road in Vienna, VA to look at different types of flooring that met these requirements. Nafi was there to advice us on color schemes and lighting. He recommended we have an accent wall, which we decided to go with, and aesthetically it makes for a much more interesting room.
When the flooring and paint were ordered and arrived, he and his team got to work.  They are organized, and worked carefully and efficiently. They re-did all the crown molding, and ensured there were multiple coats of paint on the walls  They don't nickle and dime. For example, the ceiling required many coats of paint. They kept putting on the additional coats of paint until it looked right. They will do what they need to do to exceed customer expectations. They had to re-do the banister because the original one -- an amateur job from the original owner -- did not look right with the refurbished basement.  He essentially provided the banister at no extra charge. The project came together very well -- the recessed lighting, flooring, walls, crown molding, painting -- all were completed within the timeline and budget we agreed on.
I believe Nafi and his team are dedicated professionals. They do quality work; they are ethical. They do not want to sell you something you're not interested in, or over charge. They give you honest work -- and provide quality -- at reasonable prices. They have my highest recommendation.

Drywall Insulation questions, answered by experts

In many cases, installing new drywall will boost your home value. Replacing old, damaged, cracked, or wavy drywall is a great way to improve the look and feel of your home, as new drywall installed by a professional shouldn’t have any imperfections. Additionally, removing old drywall means you’ll have open walls, so you can install new insulation and address exposed issues with plumbing and electrical systems running behind the walls. All of these fixes will also add to your home’s value.

Costs range from $500 to $5,000, depending on damage size, labor, and finishing requirements.

A utility knife is sharp enough to score the drywall and it may work in a pinch for outlet box holes. However, one of the best tools for drywall when you need to make exact cuts for an outlet box quickly is a drywall saw. This handheld tool has a longer blade than a utility knife, so it penetrates the thickness of the drywall easily. The design of its handle and the teeth in its blade make it easier to control while cutting quicker than you can with a utility knife.

Drywall repair is typically completed within a day, depending on damage extent.

You can paint over plaster, but repair any damage to the plaster first, or the paint will crack and bubble. You should also prepare the surface of the plaster to accept paint, which gives your paint job the best chance of looking good and lasting a long time. Before applying the color you want, apply a coat or two of primer. Additionally, use latex paint, and choose a latex paint with a satin finish for areas with dampness, like bathrooms.
