"Buzz came in and got rid of the clog. He also informed me that the toilets that had been installed in the condo were notorious for clogging. As a result, I purchased a toilet auger and I am taking preventive measures to avoid problems in the future."

I like what I do. Always something different, and always meeting new people. I've been doing plumbing/handyman services for over 35 years, and I still learn something almost every day. My work has carried me all over Virginia, and my customers have always called me for more work when they needed it.\nI like that. If I don't know something, I'll find out, or, I'll pass it on to someone who knows. \n I'm not afraid to bet you'll be happy with whatever I do for you.

"This young man is a professional and honesty is his policy. I've been overcharged and scammed by plumbers before so I was a little scaired! I won't be again. As long as this young fellow is a business I will call no one else for all my plumbing needs. Knowledgeable, efficient, and earnest hard to find these days. Based on previous estimates before he gave me a quote after the work my wife handed him a wad of cash. He gave some of it back. And told her that's too much. Who does that nowadays? In a world full of greed and scammers this gentleman was a breath of fresh air.his work is top notch and he stands by it. He installed our toilet and the next day. Its sprang a leak totally unrelated to his work. He was back at my house within a couple of hours fixing the problem and refusing to take payment because he was just there yesterday when your customer is more important than money you will always have plenty of customers hire this guy you won't be sorry"

Toilets questions, answered by experts

Tools include a wrench, plunger, and wax ring. Professionals use specialized tools for complex installations.

If you experience the telltale sign of wax ring failure, which is leaking water, replacing the faulty ring takes one to three hours, depending on accessibility. This is an exacting and time-consuming job, as several components must be removed for the plumber to access the ring. Once replaced, however, wax rings require little to no maintenance and last 30 years or longer.

The average cost to hire a plumber is typically between $45 and $200 per hour, with a common average rate around $125 per hour. This cost can vary based on your location, the plumber's experience, and the complexity of the job. Rates are often broken down by experience level: an apprentice may charge $45 to $90 an hour, a journeyman $60 to $110 an hour, and a master plumber $80 to $200 an hour. While hourly rates are standard, some plumbers may charge a flat fee for routine projects or offer project-based pricing. It's also common for plumbers to charge a minimum service or trip fee. For reference, some typical flat-rate costs for common jobs include: drain unclogging ($220), leaky faucet repair ($270), burst pipe repair ($400), toilet repair ($300), and water heater repair ($600). Note that these rates are for standard service hours; emergency, holiday, and after-hours calls will cost significantly more.

While technically possible, it is unlikely that a clogged toilet will fix itself. Clogs caused by water-soluble materials like toilet paper or human waste may eventually break down in the water, allowing flow to resume. However, this can take time, and any clogs from solid objects require manual removal. In most scenarios, especially if you don't have another bathroom, it is best to fix the clog yourself or call a plumber.

Toilet seats have two mounting brackets on the back that accept mounting bolts. The bolts drop through the brackets, through two small holes on the top of your toilet, and then receive nuts to hold them in place on the bottom of the toilet. If you can’t see the bolt heads, you might need to pry up the mounting bracket cover, which is a plastic piece that hides and protects the bolts.
