"We hired Paolo to remodel our kitchen/dining room/living room area. He did a wonderful job making my vision a reality! I gave him a drawing on a sheet of paper and he made everything happen! His crew is tidy and super nice. Definitely want to hire again!!!"

"Mr Hudson always returned my call promptly, he showed up on time and his fees were very reasonable.  He completed the work either early or right on time. I felt that he was very honest and trustworthy.   I will definitely use his services again

"We hired Raines & Sons to remodel our bathroom. Jamie gave us a very reasonable quote and was upfront about what to expect. Everything went well. Took a little longer than expected, but that was because he wanted to do it right rather than finish the gig and move on. The people on Jamie's crew were friendly, professional, and made sure to clean up before leaving each day. Jamie is a man of his word and always let me know what to expect each step of the way. One of the things I respect the most is that when something came up that he wasn't prepared for (it did, twice), he wasn't afraid to call in a subcontractor who could do the task better and faster. That is the mark of a true professional. He didn't try to do everything himself so he could max his profit. He brought in the people who were good at each job. Solid painting crew, too, by the way. We couldn't be happier with the results. Not only do I recommend this company, I've already hired them for another job -- rebuilding my sidewalk and front porch."

"Amanda was really very good!  At first I was very skeptical, thinking why did I pay money to just speak with someone on the phone about my kitchen remodel project... but after just a few minutes of her addressing some of the issues/questions I emailed to her earlier, I knew it was worth it.  It was very clear that she knew her business and she gave me several ideas that I had not even thought about.  I told her that I would definitely recommend her to friends and I will very likely use her again myself for my next home project!

Initially, he seemed like he was very very knowledgeable, very friendly and gave us thoughts that he knew what he was doing. They arrived on time. They're very good. The crew was pretty quick and efficient. One problem I had was they didn't come with enough materials. They had to reschedule for a completion of some. There were some minor issues that we ran into. They were supposed to paint the chimney cap and never actually did that. It's not a big deal but the other thing was the warranty and we kind of had a fight with them for the warranty to actually be processed. The warranty was the big thing and it was a lifetime warranty and I guess there were personal things that came up. It was just basically what I've learned late, but it took us probably eight months to get the warranty to be processed. That was my biggest concern, but the warranty company ensures me that everything is good even though the paperwork has the wrong number on there and I am assuming that's because they had the wrong number initially which is why they didn't have enough material.

Basement Remodel questions, answered by experts

While bathrooms and kitchens are nearly equal in terms of renovation difficulty, kitchens are the most challenging. Kitchen design, layout, electrical, and plumbing needs all depend on each other for the success of the entire project, and mistakes early in the project can cause trouble later on.

Building a bar in the basement will likely add value to your home, although it’s unlikely that you’ll see a significant return on investment (ROI) unless you plan on using the space for you and your guests. If you think you’ll use the area frequently, though, it’s probably worth the investment, and you should see a bump in value if or when you sell your property.

Although it’s not required, air ventilation in a finished basement can help improve the air quality, prevent moisture and mold issues, keep musty odors away, and also maintain the air quality throughout the rest of your home. Proper ventilation will help maintain the value of your investment in finishing your basement. Try basement ventilation methods like installing vents or a dehumidifier for best results.

A walkout basement is considered to be partially below grade because at least one wall is entirely exposed. In some cases and in specific municipalities, inspectors and appraisers will still count walkout basements as below grade, which means the space can’t serve as living space or be rented out. If you intend on using the area as living space or a separate apartment, you should check with your local building department to make sure it’s legal to do so.

Making a window in a basement larger costs an average of $4,200. You’ll need to pay an average of $550 to have a structural engineer plan the project, $500 to $1,500 for the installation labor, and an average of $2,200 for the excavation and window well installation. The remainder will go toward pulling permits, installing trim, and repairing drywall on the interior.
