You can see the 2 in wide concrete at the top of the hearth and the hearthstone inside of the firebox. You can also see the varying overhangs and the wide insert of additional concrete at the top of the hearthstone on either side to account for the additional space due to miscalculation. I have had numerous conversations with Katie who talks over me telling me this was done to code. She promised me twice last week that her manager would call me and I have not heard from anyone. "I'm concerned about this company. They were assigned by American Home Shield for our HVAC problem and although everyone I talk to is pleasant and knowledgable, and there were an expected 4 days of waiting for AHS approval/receiving equipment, communication is difficult and getting the work done took a long time due to multiple no shows and many, many follow ups to find out what was going on. 12 hours after installation (which was almost 3 weeks after first contact), the system was cooling very slowly and they promised a week ago to make an appointment to check refrigerant but have not shown up nor called. I realize they're busy but this experience has been an exercise in extreme patience, and after almost $4k and a 60 day AAS warranty, I probably have to pay someone else to fix it."
