"Jeff came to give us cost estimate for fixing our basement leaking issue. He was one of most knowledgeable professional I ever meet during my initial move in to new house. He explained why it is leaking and what we can do about it in very detailed logical explanation with clear diagrams to assist my understanding. Jeff said to fix these issues if it still leaks than come back for further assessment. It was great help, and I can really work on source of this problem now. I will never use any other waterproofing company other than All Aspects Waterproofing, LLC."

"Best Buy waterproofed my basement and replaced my roof. They did a wonderful job! Insurance doesn't cover it so they made very affordable with their finance options they presented. I am so pleased! I will refer them to anyone that needs service. Thank you Best Buy!"

"They did an excellent job of waterproofing our foundation, burying downspouts, and replacing a patio to guarantee drainage away from the house. Most of our interaction was with the crew foreman. He spoke good English, showed attention to detail, and did a careful, professional job even when the weather got so hot we found ourselves urging the crew to take more breaks. They were not the cheapest bid, but worth it for the skilled workmanship. This is the second project we have hired them to do, and I would recommend them for any work where drainage is important."

"We were not happy about having to do this work after our basement flooded...it was not in the budget. LUX was patient with all of our questions and the time we took to meet with other companies. They were also open to meeting our requests and timeline. Appreciate the professionalism and responsiveness from start to finish!"

"Excellent. A breeze to schedule with, they texted a photo of the plumber and his name when he was on his way. Arrived on time and successfully unclogged basement drain, then proceeded to replace leaky kitchen faucet. I remodeled homes in a former life, but I did not want to pay for the parts/equipment as the majority of the cost of the work was covered under a home warranty. Therefore, I can't speak to the total cost or value, but I was satisfied by the work completed."

"The required fix required that outside trenching be done and B-Dry does not do this type of work. The representative was very knowledgeable about the problem and apologized for not being able to solve the issue. Very much appreciated his honesty."

"Extremely pleased with the service from NV Waterproofing. Mark and his crew were professional and friendly — Mark explained everything thoroughly, responded to all of my questions and concerns, and made sure I was happy with the final outcome. Ali, who came out to do the original estimate, explained the problem with the old drainage system clearly, which was resulting in moisture in one of the walls of my townhouse. He offered several options of how they could fix the problem and responded immediately to the follow-up questions I had before the job was initiated. Highly recommended. Ask for Mark’s crew!"

Basement Waterproofing questions, answered by experts

Ductwork sweats due to a temperature difference between the air inside the ducts and the surrounding air, similar to how a cold drink develops condensation in the heat. This sweating is a sign that your HVAC system is not operating at peak efficiency. The best way to keep ductwork from sweating is to wrap it in proper insulation, which also improves your system's energy efficiency. Another option is to close off your crawl space and install a dehumidifier to dry the air and lower its dew point.

In some circumstances, foundation refacing or repair may be a better option for your home than sealing a foundation. It’s always a good idea to take steps to prevent moisture problems in your foundation, but if there are any structural concerns, those will usually need to be fixed first. When dealing with foundation issues, it’s a good idea to get a professional opinion so you can avoid bigger problems down the road.

Most people consider a French drain to be one of the most effective solutions for foundation leaks, but it’s not always a standalone solution. French drains will help keep water away from your foundation to reduce the risk of leaking and structural damage from soil expansion, but depending on your foundation type and location, you might need other systems or techniques—like soil gradation and gutter and leader installation—to resolve the underlying problem.

You’ll need to reseal the foundation every five to 10 years, depending on the sealant you’ve used, the moisture conditions present in and around your home, and the condition of your foundation. Having a foundation inspection conducted before reapplication can help you catch any problems before you begin resealing. Of course, if you notice any new leaks or other moisture problems at any time, it may be necessary to reseal the foundation sooner.

Water damage always poses a primary risk of mold and mildew, but growth is not guaranteed. Whether mold develops depends on several factors, including the severity of the water damage and how quickly the area is addressed. To prevent mold, you must act fast—ideally within the first 24 hours. The process involves cleaning up all standing water and thoroughly drying the affected area. If the damage is extensive, the cleanup was delayed, or you suspect mold might be present, it is safest to assume it has grown and contact a professional mold inspector or removal expert to assess the situation.
