"Quite well. Contractor was responsive, efficient, informative, and thorough. Replacement looks beautiful. Contractor cleaned site after completion of driveway; repaired lawn on each side of driveway. I am pleased with the results."

Customers say: True professional

"Billy responded to my request for an estimate immediately and work was scheduled within 3 work days. O. Cooper was one of three estimates obtained and they had the most competitive price. They arrived on time and worked quickly, but efficiently. They prepped the area, removing weeds and trimming grass along the driveway. The quality of their work was excellent, they diligently filled multiple cracks in my large driveway. The sealant was applied evenly and thoroughly. They cleaned up the area before departing."

"Nice folks and very friendly! We hired them after we saw the work they did on our neighbor’s driveway. The driveway looked amazing and they had a great price compared to the competitors!"

"Excellent service! My husband setup the appointment at the last minute due to bad weather constantly rolling in, but the gentleman from Paveco was ready that morning to come out and do the seal coating when asked. I was very impressed but was even more impressed when I was unable to make it back home from errands before the young man finished, and he patiently waited for me to return so I could pay him for his work. He never called me to ask where I was even though several unforeseen circumstances made it nearly impossible to get home in time. The driveway looks amazing and the young man told me to call anytime I had questions. A few hours after he worked hard to get it all done, rain that wasn't on the forecast hit, but our driveway still looks awesome."

"The owner, Rick, personally showed up to do the estimate when he said he would. He provided a reasonable estimate and the rationale for how he intended to replace my driveway made the most sense compared to other vendors. I gave Rick a specific and he contacted after I called and said I was ready to have the work done. He said he could do it the next day. His crew showed up on time. Rick was their the entire time to supervise. The crew did a quality job and finished the job as promised. Rick has been in the business for over 50 years and knows what he's doing. I couldn't be happier with the result."

"The repaving project was done conscientiously, with a good and thorough team. The driveway looks excellent, including at all edges. Of course, the actual results may take months or years to fully evaluate, but the experience and results on day one are more than satisfactory. Very personable interactions with the customer. And the cost was very competitive with quotes from other companies."

Asphalt Driveways questions, answered by experts

Three inches is a great thickness for a residential asphalt driveway that sees minimal to moderate traffic from cars, SUVs, and pickup trucks. However, a thicker driveway can better withstand the weight of a heavier vehicle, such as a trailer or a recreational vehicle. If you drive a heavy vehicle on a thin driveway, you risk cracking and damaging it.

Asphalt and tarmac are not the same thing. Traditional tarmac, short for tarmacadam, uses tar as a binder to hold crushed stone together. Asphalt uses bitumen—a byproduct of crude oil—to bind aggregate. Though tarmac was once a go-to for roads, asphalt has become the modern standard. And these days, most surfaces referred to as “tarmac” are actually asphalt. So, while the names may overlap, the key distinction lies in the binder—tar for tarmac and bitumen for asphalt.

Your city or county will have guidelines about the minimum and maximum width and length of private roads. The average private road is 12 feet wide, and length, of course, depends on your property. Requirements also depend on the amount of traffic and types of vehicles your road experiences. Check with local ordinances before planning a road on your property.

Recycled asphalt is a durable choice for a driveway, but doesn’t have the same appearance and low maintenance as standard asphalt. For long driveways in rural communities, recycled asphalt can make a great choice. Recycled asphalt is 20% to 30% percent less expensive than standard asphalt and is better for the environment.

Sealing coat asphalt after 6-12 months and then every 2-3 years is recommended.
