Small jobs welcome

"This was the second major job I hired this company for. The first was the addition of a screened- in deck and patio addition in 2017. Both times they were professional, on time, and quality of work was outstanding. I will not hesitate to hire them for future projects."

"We love our cabinets! They look fantastic while remaining affordable. The friendly staff at AWD helped us from start to finish. They are very knowledgeable and gave us advice and tips when needed. They were receptive and patient with our ever-changing needs. Once we finalized our purchase, we received our cabinets within two weeks! The cabinets are very sturdy and the color is beautiful. The hinges and hardware are high quality. We are extremely pleased with AWD and would recommend them to any friends or family looking for good cabinets at a fair price."

"We were solicited by this company in the form of their flyer. I decided to check out their website since we were in the market for a deck. When we bought our house, it did not have a deck on it. So I checked Angie's list to see what others were saying about this company and it was nothing but grade A's all across the board so that is what ultimately made my decision in selecting this company. Lenny Scarola, the company's president came to our house personally and discussed with us in detail what his company could offer us and we told him basically what we were looking for and between him and Steve Edwards, the project manager, they came up with a fantastic beautiful free standing deck design complete with PVC deck boards which have a lifetime guarantee and lights installed on our stairs. Our deck is absolutely perfect and far better than I could have ever imagined it would be! The men they sent out to do the job were very quick, thorough and did not cut corners. It took only a week and a half the job was complete! I also decided to go with this company because they do offer financing as well and that appealed to me very much! They can do a deferred payment plan which works out wonderfully for us. I can't thank them enough for the quality work they have provided us. I HIGHLY recommend this company if you are looking for QUALITY in every aspect of a job! They are wonderful!!!"

Closets questions, answered by experts

To prevent sagging, consider both the material and the span of the shelf. Using sturdy materials such as plywood or solid wood can provide better support than particleboard. Additionally, limiting the shelf span to 36 inches or less can reduce the risk of sagging. For longer shelves, incorporating center supports or brackets can offer additional reinforcement.

Custom closet renovations offer a return on investment of 50% to 60%. This means that if you spend $2,000 on a closet remodel, you can expect to see your home's value increase by $1,000 to $1,200. Investing in a custom closet allows you to enhance your daily living experience while building equity.

The differences between a built-in closet and a walk-in aren’t that different from a built-in wardrobe and a walk-in closet. It’s fairly simple—a walk-in closet is a closet you can physically enter, stand in, and walk around in. A built-in (whether wardrobe or closet) is more akin to covered shelves installed into a recess in the wall. Another big difference is walk-in closets almost always have traditional full-size doors, while built-ins either have no doors or use sliding doors.

You can design your own closet, but it’s usually better to hire a professional to do the work for you. Not only will you get years of design experience to guide you toward the right layout and material choices, but you’ll also only pay slightly more hiring a professional than you would creating your own plans and hiring a carpenter. A high-quality closet designer can provide insight into how to lay out your closet, and they may be able to find you a good deal on the carpentry or complete the work using an affordable, in-house team.

When storing your clothes long-term, first consider the container's breathability. While plastic bags, cardboard boxes, or vacuum sealing may be great options for short-term storage, they won’t help your clothes hold up in the long term. Breathable plastic boxes and fabric bags help with airflow, prevent mold or mildew from building up, and allow proper airflow.
