"The owner came to help me and I was very happy to have someone come over quickly, be professional and charge me at least 25% less for the same service a different locksmith was offering."

"Nice kid. Not sure that he’s a true locksmith but he is learning!! He left all of his mess from drilling holes in my door. That’s why I called him a nice kid. The work seems to be fine but he showed up in a random unmarked car, didn’t appear neat or professional. I think he will figure it out. He has the skills."

Small jobs welcome

"Ron was great. Very responsive and honest. Answered all my questions and was extremely patient with me. He rekeyed all my locks after moving into my new home which saved me a tons of money because I thought I was having to replace all the locks. Now I have key for every door. Would definitely recommend to anyone."

"Walter and Glen at Protect Your Home Group with ADT are the best people to talk to in terms of security alarm. Being a locksmith myself I know how important it is to deal with the right people. I referred a lot of customers to them and so far they are happy with their service. I myself got one for my house. Thank you for a consistent service and great deal."

"I called multiple locksmiths and Haroon came to the rescue. The key making process for my Fiat 500 is one of the most difficult and he was able to make it happen! I would highly suggest using Haroon to take care of any of your locksmith needs!"

"Frontpoint customer service was great. However, the product is self install, which wasn't for everyone. Because of the trim on our doors, we had to scotch tape the alarm , and it constantly falls off. Of course we cannot cancel the product since its been past the 30 days but its disappointing its not made for all door types.

Locksmiths questions, answered by experts

Locksmiths recommend changing your locks once every seven years for the best security at your home. Locks can wear out over time, so you should inspect your locks regularly. A higher grade lock provides you with more cycles than those with a lower grade.

There are many types of deadbolts, but these tips work on most. First, address any grime buildup. A bit of WD-40 will loose up rust and dirt so the deadbolt can turn. Inspect the door and frame alignment if this doesn't resolve the issue. Adjust the strike plate or the deadbolt's position to improve alignment. If the problem persists, disassemble the lock to inspect for damaged or worn parts. If you are unsure how to do it, hire a local locksmith.

One of the best tools for removing a stripped bolt is a handy pair of locking pliers. Locking pliers can usually grip onto screws with a broken, rounded, or stripped head and lock in place so that you can loosen even the most stubborn bolt that would otherwise remain hopelessly jammed.

Deadbolts are solid and durable as can be, but the pin and tumbler can still be forced open, thus making this type of lock susceptible to picking. Most types of deadbolts are harder to pick than a traditional spring-based lock, though. It requires a specialized lock pick and a tension wrench to align all of the pins, thus unlocking the door.

Rekeying door locks yourself costs a fraction of what you would expect to pay a locksmith. On average, it costs between $50 to $100 to hire a local locksmith to rekey your house, though labor costs may vary based on where you live. For a DIY solution, you can expect to spend $11 to $25 on a rekeying kit.
