"I am just assuming they did their job.....will have to wait until spring to see if I have any problems with the system. However, the agent was informative and courteous and showed something new about my system. Also they were the most cost effective of anyone I've ever had....which to me was a much more reasonable price for the work that is actually involved. I'd recommend them for this service."

"Great! This team was very responsive, provided a fast free estimate, offered a very competitive rate and when accepted they quickly responded with a detailed contract. They were very friendly, knowledgeable and kept me informed via text, email and phone. They're work is excellent and they were very thorough with the clean up. I have already asked for an estimate on deck work. I highly recommend York River for your landscaping needs."

"Kenny responded promptly to my query for help.  He was very busy, but provided an estimate when he said he would.  He showed up for the work when he said he would.  The job took two days - Remove/grind out existing mortar (what was left) in day one and repoint the entire steps group the next.  Everything looks better than new.  Positively perfect.

If I ever need masonry work again, I'll be giving Kenny a call.  I've seen his work and it's great.

"David the owner was always a true professional and did an outstanding job from day one.? He assisted us with his ideas on increasing the size of our kitchen and everyone in his team did their best to make this remodel a reality.? We are very happy with the service and craftsmanship that we received and our kitchen is absolutely beautiful.? I would definitely use his services in the future if the need should arise and would recommend his company highly if you are looking for a contractor that will treat you and your home with courtesy and respect.?"

Paving Services questions, answered by experts

Yes, permeable paving is expensive. For driveways, expect to pay up to $70 per square foot; for patios, permeable paving can cost up to $30 per square foot. Costs will depend on the type of material you choose, plus the standard labor rate in your area.

Asphalt and tarmac are not the same thing. Traditional tarmac, short for tarmacadam, uses tar as a binder to hold crushed stone together. Asphalt uses bitumen—a byproduct of crude oil—to bind aggregate. Though tarmac was once a go-to for roads, asphalt has become the modern standard. And these days, most surfaces referred to as “tarmac” are actually asphalt. So, while the names may overlap, the key distinction lies in the binder—tar for tarmac and bitumen for asphalt.

Whether it's worth it to install a heated driveway depends on how often you'll use it, your lifestyle, and your budget. If you live in a mild climate with little snowfall, then installing a built-in heated driveway system may not be worth it. If you live in a region that experiences mild snowfall, then a portable mat could work better. However, if you live in a region with heavy snowfall, it makes sense to invest in a built-in heated driveway.

Many asphalt companies have experience with tar and chip paving, but not all. The process is unique enough—and not incredibly common enough—that you may have to look around for a tar and chip specialist. However, speaking with a driveway company is a great place to start, especially if they have experience with multiple materials.

If your driveway is cracked, you can repave it with a process called asphalt overlay. Overlay is more cost-effective than a full replacement but is better suited for minor cracks and issues. If you have major cracks or other problems like water pooling, asphalt overlay isn’t your best bet. Plus, paving over a cracked driveway only extends the lifetime by about 10 years, whereas replacing it would start the clock over completely to give you up to 30 years.
