"Bill was good at communication and getting all the subs in and out on time. We had some glitches in what we originally wanted and he provided some good alternatives. Nothing ever goes 100% as planned and such was the case with our job. We are happy overall with the work.

"Jordan is a true craftsman and professional. He not only understood what my wife and I wanted to do, but was able to bring in some fresh ideas (in budget) that helped the projects come to life. No reason to look further, he is the man for any job you have."

"When I wasn't having any luck finding someone willing to build a workshop in my garage, I found Amuri. He contacted me and came the next day to give me a quote. He listened to all my requests and executed them perfectly. They did a great job, and they were all very friendly. I appreciate him including me in every process."

"Alfred was wonderful! He repaired the sliding doors in my bedroom closet that 2 other handymen were not able to do. He also hauled a heavy piece of furniture downstairs for me and removed and replaced rubber step mats on my 5 garage stairs. Noted that I had bought the wrong materials for adhesive:) He knew what was best. Don't waste your time or money, hire Cranston to do the job efficiently, I'm so thankful I did! Thank you Cranston and Alfred!"

"Weathers Construction has been our go-to for over 16 years. They built an addition, remodeled our kitchen, remodeled our bathroom, replaced our stairs, and completed many painting, electrical, and flooring projects. Their prices are fair and honest and the team is great to work with."

"Best contractor I have ever dealt with on a personal home project. Fast, courteous, honest, polite and informative. Kelly and his crew did exactly what they said they were going to do for the price they quoted me. I have a 2700 square foot basement that they completely framed for me. I offered them to my house, but they came and went every time through a basement window. They were always on time and always responded to my calls and texts. I will definitely rehire Kelly and his crew again if needed."

Garages questions, answered by experts

The lifespan of garage door springs depends on the type and quality of the springs, the physical environment, and the level of use. In general, properly installed and maintained springs open and close a garage door around 10,000 times . That equates to around seven years if you open and close the door about four times a day. If you use your garage door more frequently, live in a very cold or humid environment that promotes corrosion or rust, or have a very heavy door, your springs may wear out faster and require replacing sooner.

Start by assessing your needs, setting a realistic budget, creating design plans, and selecting materials. Consulting professionals for advice can streamline the process.

Just like any other part of your home, hurricane garage doors need regular maintenance to stay in top shape. This ensures they function optimally during storms and provide the protection you need.

You can do some basic maintenance yourself, like cleaning the tracks and lubricating the moving parts. It's as simple as using a mild detergent and water to clean the tracks and applying a silicone-based lubricant to the hardware. However, for more in-depth maintenance and inspections, it's a good idea to call in the professionals to identify any potential problems and fix them before they become more significant issues.

Most garage doors come with their own set of tracks and rollers from the manufacturer, so you don’t need to buy tracks separately.

We recommend hiring a garage door professional to install a garage door opener for you. Garage door openers aren’t terribly complex, but setting them up properly, setting the lift and drop speed, and installing sensors that work correctly can take a few hours for a DIYer. The cost to install a garage door opener is around $400, and it will save you a lot of time and frustration. Garage professionals have the skills and equipment necessary to work with potentially dangerous garage door components, like springs.
