Customers say: Quick response

"Even though I did not hire Cody to do my cabinet work he took the time to listen to my concerns and issues I am having with another company under the name of Ivy League Builders. He asked me to forward pics of the cabinets to him for his review and was back in contact with me within less than an hour with his expert advice. Thank you Cody!"

"I hired the company after being sold and promised a floor and baseboards of better quality than I had. While the product quality met expectations, installation was a problem. First, the salesman disappeared and could not be reached once the company was paid. Warning to prospective customers, once money is paid customer service suffers. The Salesman handed the project over to my project manager Amy. Amy went on an extended vacation leaving the project in pieces. I begrudge no one a vacation, but ensure your customers and their projects are taken care of before you go. There was no replacement project manager. Vinyl install and demo were crazy. The vinyl installer showed up without tools. The Demo team damaged two walls and my bullnose corners were damaged and required repairs. I had to do the repairs because they couldnâ t. The laminate went in ok, but stairs werenâ t caulked in properly. I was told by several Utah Floor and Design technicians that the customer was supposed to caulk in the wood. My contract said I paid for finish installation of baseboards and trim. Friends that had had floors done were shocked that the wood wasnâ t caulked. Utah Floors and Design did not do caulk the floor, stairs, baseboards or trim. With no project manager or salesman to reach out to, Iâ m stuck finishing this project tomorrow. The baseboard carpentry was badly accomplished. I had to contact the company and complain. They sent a manager over who walked the house, shaking his head and asked who the carpenter was. He finished most of the work and fixed mistakes. In the end, however, the job is a â Câ at best. The caulk free baseboards and stairs look unfinished and amateur. The floor is quite nice, but there are areas I will need to correct, even though I believe they were part of the contract. The kitchen counters have a 1/4 inch gap between the floor and the cabinets, no 1/4 round was purchased or installed. The demolition was a â Câ , damage to the walls and corners. The vinyl installation was a â B+â they eventually got it done well. The laminate installation was an â A-â stairs could have been better. The baseboard carpenter was a â Dâ . Had to be fixed by manager. Finish, caulking and 1/4 round, â Fâ . Not done. Lastly, communication with customer, F-. This appears to be a corporate issue. There appears to be plenty of flooring projects right now. If you hire this company, you will be on your own. Good luck"

"I was very specific at the start of this project with what I wanted and had several pages of ideas and photos in mind to give Dan for him to bid with. All of my ideas were discussed prior to the project and Dan was able to accommodate everything I wanted. I can say with 100% certainty that the kitchen I got turned out better than what I hoped for. Dan's finish work was exceptional, and many pieces were cut to fit on site and painted like cabinet trim, baseboards, and side paneling to fit perfectly in place. Dan has been the best communicating contractor I have ever hired, and he was very punctual. I would highly recommend Dan to anyone who is looking for new cabinets or anyone who has a unique ceiling or kitchen layout and wants something custom. Above and Beyond - Mid way thru the project I asked Dan to paint base board molding to match my cabinets two-toned color and install them, which he was happily able to complete for me."

Cabinet Making questions, answered by experts

Yes, you can replace the cabinet hardware after installation to change up the look of your cabinets. Replacing the hinges, handles, pulls, and knobs allows you the design flexibility to match your other appliances or finish schemes to your liking. Talk with your kitchen designer or cabinet installer about the best hardware option for your cabinets.

Custom cabinets made from solid wood tend to last the longest, remaining in good condition for 20 to 50 years. Cabinet lifespan depends on upkeep, the amount of heat and moisture inside the home, and general wear and tear. Popular hardwood options include oak, cherry, maple, walnut, and hickory. Its longevity means that solid wood is more expensive than alternative materials like furniture board, laminate, and plywood. The average cost of solid wood cabinets ranges from $100 to $1,200 per linear foot.

We recommend installing wall cabinets first so the base cabinets aren’t in the way. This order also prevents damage to the base cabinets if you drop tools or materials when installing the upper cabinets.

Walls in good condition with an even surface should be fine for frameless cabinet installation. Older, uneven, or warped walls could create problems. Your studs and their spacing are especially important, since frameless cabinets rely so much on wall attachments. Call in a professional installer for a consultation if you aren’t sure.

Installing cabinet toe kicks after installing flooring is common, as this produces a sleek, streamlined appearance along the cabinetry bases. The toe kick is a cabinetry term for the covered, recessed areas at the cabinet’s base that let you stand closer to the counter more comfortably by making room for your toes.
