"Everything was done on time with meticulous care taken to ensure pipes were solid and not leaking. Everything I had done was done very professionally with special care taken to make sure my job was done on time. I have had my furnace serviced since my plumbing job and that service man commented on the professional job done on my pipes. "Wes was very knowledgeable and was able to diagnose the problem with my water heater. We went through my options and Wes educated me along the way to help me make the decision on what I should do. He even showed me what was wrong so I knew I could trust him. Iâ ve already scheduled Plumbing and Company to come back and install a new vanity sink in my bathroom. Glad to have found a plumber I can trust."

"Neighborly Plumbing has to be by far the best plumbing company I’ve ever worked with. We’ve had water issues in our home and contacted five different plumbing companies to have a battery back up sump pump installed because of numerous weather and electrical outages. I was lucky enough to get an estimate from Casey. Not only was he completely knowledgeable with all plumbing codes he was an expert with sump pump systems. All other plumbing estimates had limited knowledge of sump systems and were more than willing to simply dump an extra sump in the basin without any knowledge of how a backup battery worked. In fact those plumbers asked me what I wanted and asked for my suggestions! Seriously!! Need I say I went with Neighborly Plumbing. Their bid was extremely competitive and after all was done and said their quality was heads above everyone else. While completing the job they ended up redesigning the sump system because they found excessive water tables around the property. They wanted to insure that the system they installed was custom to our home and as such they ended up upgrading parts and incurring an additional day of labor for two master plumbers but yet honored my estimate. I’m sure they certainly couldn’t afford to do that on a frequent basis but it goes to show you that there are tradesman still alive and well who insist on quality and function on all jobs that they complete. I can’t say enough about what a pleasure it was to work with Casey, Chris, Matt and Travis. This is a small company but big on reliability, integrity, and quality. Teresa Graziano"

Affordable Plumbers questions, answered by experts

Watch for white mineral deposits around fixtures, which indicate internal scale restricting your plumbing flow. Slow drains across multiple fixtures point to main sewer line root intrusion, a common issue in established Sandy neighborhoods. Rust-colored water signals advanced interior pipe corrosion that requires immediate attention. Unexplained high water bills or chalky stains on basement walls indicate hidden leaks absorbing into the soil or concrete.

Helpful?

Routine plumbing maintenance focuses heavily on hard water management. Flush your water heater annually to remove sediment and clean fixture aerators to prevent mineral clogs. Before November, insulate exposed pipes in crawl spaces to prevent freezing. Older Sandy properties require periodic sewer camera inspections to clear tree roots. Additionally, test your pressure reducing valves and backflow preventers annually to meet local safety standards.

Helpful?

A lack of permit records for past plumbing upgrades indicates uninspected work that requires correction. Look for mismatched pipe materials at joints, as these transition points corrode rapidly in UT hard water. Flat or improperly sloped drain lines in basements also signal substandard installation. Finally, check your water heater for double seismic strapping, which local codes mandate due to nearby fault lines.

Helpful?

Start by checking local permit requirements, as most plumbing work requires an inspection to meet state building codes. Schedule exterior work between late spring and early fall to avoid frozen ground. You must also contact the local utility locate service before digging. Finally, account for hard water in your planning, as UT water chemistry affects pipe material choices and fixture longevity.

Helpful?

Permit requirements dictate timelines, as inspections create a mandatory two-visit process for permitted plumbing work. Foundation types also matter; older Sandy homes with slab foundations demand multi-day excavations, while basements allow single-visit access. Additionally, discovering severe mineral scaling or aging cast iron pipes during the project forces a scope expansion. This requires return visits to replace corroded materials or perform heavy descaling.
