When our old unit flooded the basement, the sales rep, Nicholas Allphin, assured us we could do a payment plan for a new tankless heater. He was polite and professional, but would swipe past all of the verbiage on his tablet straight to the signature block, repeatedly reassuring us of what it said and that it was a payment plan. Months later, after repeatedly asking for payoff information, we learned it was actually a lease that would cost nearly double what we were quoted. We felt completely misled and taken advantage of, and it was incredibly frustrating to realize the truth only after months of trying to get answers. This felt dishonest and manipulative. If you still choose to use them, be very cautious and double-check everything they do and say, because there?s a good chance they could be doing the same thing to you."

It is almost white from all of the thousand of bubbles. Even letting the glass of water sit for an hour, there are still many bubbles in the water and the water remains cloudy. If your water softener repair is fairly straightforward, like a simple filter replacement, then you can probably do it yourself with little risk. However, anything beyond a simple fix should be addressed by someone with extensive plumbing expertise to avoid costly water softener problems, like leaks. 

That said, even simple problems can be complicated to diagnose, particularly if your water softener is attached to a whole-house treatment system. So, unless you feel absolutely certain that the problem is an easy fix that you can take on yourself, it's probably best to hire a plumber to diagnose and fix the problem.

The main difference between water softeners and water filters is that softeners remove hard minerals from the water, while filters have more of a blanket effect, removing all contaminants above a certain size. Filters are also much less expensive to install and protect against bacteria and other impurities. Depending on your water supply, you may need both.

Water softener versus water filter: which one should you choose? If you want to remove minerals, opt for a softener. If you want to remove a wide range of contaminants, go for a filter. Or, you can install both.

You can use a commercial water repellent treatment for glass on your shower doors to prevent water spots. Take care to only apply the product to glass. Letting air circulate also helps prevent water spots, as water is less likely to remain on the glass for a long time with good air circulation. Run your vent fan, open a window, and leave the shower door open for about half an hour after using the shower.

Hard water doesn’t hurt, but it might feel more abrasive, especially if you have sensitive skin. It’s also about how your skin feels after bathing. You might feel as though you have a sticky film over your body because you do—it’s all that soapy residue left behind because the hard water can’t rinse it off completely.
