"Wes was very knowledgeable and was able to diagnose the problem with my water heater. We went through my options and Wes educated me along the way to help me make the decision on what I should do. He even showed me what was wrong so I knew I could trust him. Iâ ve already scheduled Plumbing and Company to come back and install a new vanity sink in my bathroom. Glad to have found a plumber I can trust."

"I would like to have an invoice itemized by parts and labor separately. Instead, it was itemized by phase of job. Not as informative. So deduct 1/2 star. Nevertheless, technician called before arrival as promised, arrived on time, wore mask and booties, explained what the problem was, what had to be done to fix it, prepared cost estimate before work, and finished in time. He left no debris after his work. All together a pleasant and professional experience. Would definitely hire again for additional plumbing work if needed."

Plumbing questions, answered by experts

When you put baking soda and vinegar down the drain, they chemically react and help break down clogs. It’s not going to work for every type of clog, however. For example, it’s not the best way to get rid of grease buildup. For grease, you should try boiling water and white vinegar instead.

The diverter valve in your bathtub is responsible for diverting water between your tub spout and your shower head. If water comes out of both at the same time, you have a faulty diverter valve. You can have a plumber replace this for you, or you can replace it yourself if you have some experience working with plumbing fixtures.

No—you should always shut off the power and the water supply to the tank. Shutting off the water ensures that your water heater won’t continuously refill while you are trying to drain it, which would likely cause a big mess! Make sure to allow the hot water to cool completely before continuing the process of draining the heater.

Besides opting for a professional inspection, there are some other telltale signs that a pipe in your home is ready to go. Keep an eye out for signs of leaks and spot-check exposed areas of piping. Musty smells, spots on your walls, and dripping sounds are signs an unseen pipe has a leak, for example. You can also check the tubing for stains, flaking, and discoloration, all of which are signs of corrosion.

On average, it costs between $150 and $300 to fix a toilet that’s leaking at the base, including supply charges. If the flange is intact, the cost is between $150 to $200. If the flange needs to be replaced, you can expect an extra $50 or so. The actual price will depend on the hourly rate your plumber charges.
