"Micah and Austin did an excellent job on a crawlspace encapsulation. Mac who did initial walkthrough was also very helpful in helping to determine the best options and educating me on the process. Would highly suggest Groundworks"

"I especially appreciate the customer support: evaluating the options, reviewing pricing -considering competing bids, managing maintenance/costs over a long term, tax credit and rebate information, service time line, install care. Through the entire process they were always available to answer questions and concerns. Totally pleasant to work with!"

"My family is very picky when it comes to water. May sound a little crazy, but a short time ago we did a blind taste test of dozens of different types/brands of water to determine which was the best. When we tested the water from the Crusader Reverse Osmosis Filtration System, it compared with the best. It tastes fantastic and we use it all the time. After getting Crusader’s system we were able to stop our water delivery service – great savings and don’t have to hassle with the dispensers, water bottles, and missed deliveries. Also, this company has been great to work with. We also purchased a water softener system from them. They are super responsive. The install went very smooth. They took great care to install the system as per my particular requirements. Highly recommended."

"Logan Ericksen was our technician. He did an excellent job of going through all the options with us, and fielding our numerous questions (both technical and practical). He was kind and very forthcoming. He won our business. We were very pleased with the installation of our tankless water heater as well. Great company, excellent product, and extraordinary service! Yes! will continue to be at the top our goto list for plumbing and heating needs!"

"I couldn’t be happier with the service I received! They swapped out our broken old water heater for a high-quality tankless model (worth around $3k) and didn’t even ask for half down upfront. They also relocated my current water softener to its proper spot (the last company had installed it wrong), set up my Aquasana filtration system with UV light and installed new valves under my sinks. They handled everything from start to finish: purchasing all the materials themselves (including the water heater, pex pipe, fittings, wood, screws, and more), completing the install of the new one, they even hauled away the old one and made sure everything was working perfectly before even mentioning payment. In fact, they let me use it for three full days before I had to reach out to ask how to pay them! 🤯 I was thinking it was impossible to find a company that truly cares about the quality of their work and their customer’s experience anymore and every contractor only cared about rushing to collect a half down check to not show back up. I’ve been through absolute h*** with every contractor I’ve ever hired. When my water heater went out I was absolutely terrified to hire another one. Finally for once, I felt like they wanted me to actually enjoy and use what I paid for. That kind of professionalism and pride in workmanship is impossible to find these days. I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for reliable, honest, and top-quality service."

Sump Pump Installation questions, answered by experts

Submersible and pedestal sump pumps are two popular types of sump pumps. Submersible models are covered by water in a sump pit, which helps keep the motor cooler and quieter. Pedestal sump pumps stick out of the sump pit, so the motor stays dry and is easier to access. Submersible sump pumps are the pricier option, but they also have longer life spans.

Yes, it’s normal (and beneficial) to have a small amount of water in the bottom of your sump pit. It shows that your system is collecting groundwater, rain, and excess water from around your property—just like it’s supposed to. However, if the sump pit is always full, you might have a leak or a faulty sump pump.

Sewer ejector pumps need to be cleaned at least once a year by a professional. You shouldn’t attempt to clean it yourself because it can release sewer gasses that are toxic to humans and can be fatal. But to keep the system as clean as possible between professional inspection and cleaning services, be sure to only flush human waste and toilet paper. Avoid flushing items that can clog the system, like paper towels, grease, oil, or menstruation products.

Installing a battery backup for your sump pump is recommended, particularly if you live in an area with frequent power outages or severe rainstorms. A sump pump requires electricity to function, and a battery backup ensures it can continue to move water out of your home if the power goes out, providing crucial protection against flooding. Additionally, frequent power outages can create electrical surges that might damage the sump pump's motor. A battery backup system offers an additional layer of protection, ensuring your basement stays dry.

To maintain your sump pump, start by checking it every three to four months to ensure it’s in working order. Clear any debris from the pit because blockages can prevent the pump from operating efficiently. You should also test the pump by pouring a bucket of water into the pit. If it turns on automatically and drains the water, it’s functioning correctly. Inspect the discharge line for clogs, and ensure it directs water away from your home. Once a year, clean the pump itself, and consider having it professionally serviced for optimal performance.
