"Dalton was awesome! He came by the property right away and sent us a great video with the scope of work and the pricing. He did a great job with the yard cleanup, edging, gutter cleaning and haul away! He communicated well and charged a very fair price! We have used him for several jobs since and will continue to do so!"

"Erick and his team did an amazing job transforming our weed-infested garden into beautiful, raised garden beds that will outlast us. They removed or transplanted the existing vegetation; dug, leveled, and compacted the foundation; precisely placed every paver, filled the boxes with fresh topsoil, and installed drip irrigation. They also put down fabric and gravel in the walkways and around our shed to complete the look and keep weeds down. I couldn't be happier! They were punctual, professional, fast, and very reasonably priced considering the scope of the job. We will definitely call them again for future projects and recommend them to family and friends."

"We have had many different contractors work in/on our house and these guys were the most prompt and responsive of any company we’ve ever worked with. Each work day the crew left our property cleaner than when they arrived. We added some work and they got it done the very next day. Any tweaks we asked for were acknowledged and done promptly. Romero was pleasant to work with and his communication was great. We’re very happy with the work they did and definitely recommend them."

Mulch and Topsoil questions, answered by experts

In most cases, it’s better to remove rocks before adding mulch. Layering the two will restrict drainage and plant health, and can create an unpleasant texture underfoot.

There are a few ways you can reduce the cost of mulch delivery, including the following:

  • Place your order in the winter months for spring delivery

  • Choose a more affordable mulch color

  • Opt for a more affordable type of mulch

  • Place larger orders to get a lower cost per cubic foot

  • Opt to lay your own mulch to save on installation costs

  • Add on other delivery or landscaping services to save on travel costs

  • Prepare a single delivery site in the front of your property, and use a wheelbarrow to move smaller quantities

When laying gravel, it's often a good idea to apply a base layer, such as sand or crushed concrete. You may also want to layer a weed-blocking membrane on top of the base layer to prevent weeds and grass from sprouting up in your gravel driveway. Without the appropriate base layer, the gravel you lay may sink into the soil.

The best equipment for moving large rocks from your yard depends on their size and weight. A heavy-duty wheelbarrow or a rock dolly can be effective for smaller boulders. A skid-steer loader or a mini-excavator with a grapple attachment provides the necessary power and control for larger, heavier rocks that you can’t lift manually. Professionals may use a larger excavator and ratchet hoist to remove larger boulders.

Since the nature of the landscaping project can heavily influence the overall cost, it helps to understand what different types of landscaping projects cost on average. For example:

  • Plant a tree: $100–$2,000

  • Build a retaining wall: $3,250–$9,200

  • Reseed a lawn: $450–$1,700

  • Install a water fountain: $950–$4,800

  • Install a paver patio: $2,400–$7,000

  • Install a concrete walkway: $1,200–$2,400

  • Install a flower bed: $800–$3,000

  • Landscape lighting: $2,000–$6,000
