"After the company's "scouts" were in the neighborhoods and snagged me while I was outside getting my mail, I decided to meet with a salesperson since I was looking to replace my sliding glass door. The salesperson was friendly and very knowledgeable and presented their products and services well. Overall, the whole consultation/estimate meeting was a pleasant experience. However, a few aspects near the end of the meeting were deal-breakers for me. The first was, when the salesman was just about to give me a price estimate, he claimed he had forgotten to add in the price of staining the wood on the door, but oh well, he would just have to take that as his loss. Obviously, a sales tactic to make a customer think s/he is getting a "special" deal. The next negative aspect was the quoted price. Of course, the quote starts outrageously high - in this case, over $11,000 - but after the whole list of deals, special promotions, etc., were applied, the price came down to $8,000. Still outrageously high, in my opinion. Then, the next negative aspect was the "if you commit today" discount of $400. If a product or service is worth it, pressure tactics like this aren't needed. After the salesperson left, I had time to do some online research on the company. On the positive side, everyone, everywhere says their products and services are superior; pretty much the best available. Customers are very happy with the quality and years of long-lasting durability. Even people in the industry had to praise their quality. On the negative side, many customers complained of extremely pushy salespeople who would bash and bad-talk any and all other companies and products (though this was not my experience). Also on the negative side were the comments about their prices. Most everyone said they are too expensive, even ridiculously expensive. So, if a very high price is not your concern when getting quality windows/doors installed, I'd say go with Renewal By Andersen. If you're like me and appreciate quality, but don't have money to burn and can't justify spending $7,600 for a door, find another company that can appreciate the average consumer's need to balance price and quality.
