"SL Fence made it easy & affordable to get a modern wood fence. It was only 10% more than a white vinyl fence! The wood add nice character and sitting in the backyard just got a huge upgrade. From receiving the estimate to starting the project only took a week. The crew was careful, respectful and kept the worksite concise. They also recycled material from the fence we replaced! The wood is thick, sturdy & treated. Much stronger than a vinyl fence. Neighbors & I are both glad we went with this company for the job. Thanks for the great fence SL Fence."

"I received 4 estimates on my vinyl fence from different companies. Diamond fence was one of the lower ones. To be complete honest i was impressed with the customers service and prompt response from diamond fence. There quality is top notch, they were there when they said they would, and the worked around my Concrete Guys and the crazy weather this last spring. Would Definitely recommend them and would use them again! Thank you Diamond fence"

Fencing questions, answered by experts

You should stain both sides of your fence to get the full benefits. Fences often fall along property lines, so you may want to save a buck by leaving your neighbor’s side in the dust. If you do that, all you get is a slightly better view. Moisture and UV rays can still sneak in through the side that’s unpainted or worn down and damage your fence. Rot and rust will spread, even if you can’t see it from your side of the lawn.

Regular maintenance for wire fencing includes annual inspections for rust or damage, tension adjustments every two to three years, and immediate repair of any breaks or loose sections. You should also regularly check the fence posts for stability, particularly after severe weather, and make sure to remove any vegetation growing along the fence line.

Since wood is weaker when installed horizontally versus vertically, a horizontal fence is prone to sagging. You can prevent this drooping from happening by building a sturdier fence. Use softwoods that are more stable, such as cedar and redwood, or denser hardwoods for your fence materials. If you can’t afford these pricey materials, use thicker two-by-six pressure-treated pine boards or shorten the span the fence boards have to cover by installing more posts.

A chain link fence typically lasts between 15 and 20 years, but with proper maintenance, it can last for 30 years or more. To preserve the fence, it's important to keep the mesh wire tight, which can be done with a come-along tool every 6 to 12 months. Investing in a fence with a galvanized, powder-coated, or vinyl-coated finish can increase its lifespan to 20 to 30 years and reduce maintenance needs, as these coatings provide extra protection against the elements.

For a chain link fence, the ideal distance between fence posts is 6 to 10 feet apart. Measure carefully to ensure even spacing, and resist the temptation to extend the distance more than 10 feet. Doing so could impact the stability of your fence.
