"If you’re looking for a contractor who’s fair, upfront, and someone who’s looking to go above and beyond, Brad is your guy. I hired him to take on a small project, cutting a hole in my foundation for an egress window. I’m fortunate enough to have a decent amount of experience in the trades and Brad’s pricing was fair and well priced. He was willing to help me with a smaller project that most contractors would pass on. I was surprised, he was extremely attentive and asked many questions to ensure that the job was done exactly how I wanted it. Before he started the job and charged me, he ensured that the window I had bought would fit correctly, that I had bought all the right materials to do the job after he made the cuts, and measured multiple times inside and outside prior to cutting. I felt very confident the job was going to go well and after everything it was perfect. He even made sure the window fit and I was satisfied. I can’t say enough good things about this guy."

"We had them remove a large amount of dirt and weeds from our side yard, and then add some mulch and gravel. They did a wonderful job and were very fairly priced compared to other quotes. I have referred them to others and definitely will be using them again."

Customers say: Quick response

"Wow, we are so happy we went with Hancock Signatures for our new roof! They did an exceptional job (I didn't know a roof could actually look BEAUTIFUL but I think ours does!), they were timely and fit us in quickly even though I know they have a lot of other projects, they were professional and easy to communicate with. We will absolutely use them again."

Small jobs welcome

"Carter with Terraform Groundworks was an absolute pleasure to work with, and I highly recommend him! He built a stunning rock retention wall in our backyard, and the results exceeded our expectations. Our yard presented some challenges, but Carter handled them seamlessly, showcasing his expertise and problem-solving skills. From start to finish, Carter was professional, kind, and incredibly hardworking. His project estimate was spot-on, and his attention to detail was evident in every aspect of his work. We were so impressed with the backyard transformation that we brought him back to upgrade our front yard as well, and once again, he delivered exceptional results. If you are considering an excavation or landscaping project, look no further Carter is the best choice. We could not be happier with his work and would absolutely hire him again!"

Excavating questions, answered by experts

Tree experts don’t advise against digging through tree roots, but instead encourage caution and consultation with a local arborist to make sure you don’t damage the tree’s structure or interrupt its water or nutrient intake. An arborist can recommend specific practices when digging and help prune the roots or dig a trench for utilities with a tool that can remove soil without touching the tree’s roots.

Directional drilling is complex and requires training to use the advanced machinery. It can be challenging to monitor the position of the drill since there’s no direct line of sight. Directional drilling can also be more expensive with a cost of $10 to $30 per linear foot compared to $5 to $12 per linear foot for trenching.

If you’re planning to dig on your property, you’ll need to check for underground utility lines. Call the national call-before-you-dig 811 number. Once connected to an operator, you can schedule a site visit to mark underground lines. This way, you won’t accidentally dig into pipes and can cause major (read: costly) issues.

Dumpsters work best on hard, study, and level surfaces made of asphalt, stone, or concrete. If the surface is uneven or too soft, the dumpster could get stuck or tip over when filled. Keep in mind that you must obtain a dumpster permit to keep it on a city street in many areas.

No, a ditch isn’t a trench. A ditch is an open, relatively shallow channel that’s carved out of the ground and used for drainage purposes. In contrast, a trench is a deeper excavation that’s entirely underground. Trenches have many uses, including gas lines, sewage systems, and electrical wiring. Unlike trenches, ditches don’t get filled back in with dirt after they’re dug.
