"Hired a professional to install 2 hand rails for my parents. One was installed on the front porch brick steps and one on the back porch brick steps. They arrived on time, installed both handrails quickly and safely. Handrails are sturdy, and now my parents lives are that much safer. Would recommend."

"My aging parents had an old wobbly mailbox that needed to be replaced. Salt Lake Pyramids showed up on time, carefully dug out the old mailbox put together the new, fancy mailbox, mixed and poured the concrete, installed the post (perfectly straight and level) and had the whole thing done in a couple hours. They cleaned everything up - spotlessly. Absolute professionals! I will be using Salt Lake Pyramids again for all my handy-person work, even on larger projects!"

"ER Soulution responded to my on-line request within a few minutes and set up a time to evaluate my gutter issue the following day. My gutter, which was relatively new, was sagging and falling down from the roofline on the north side of my house. Emanuel climbed onto the roof, lifted a few shingles and took photos of the underlining gutter/roofing issues. It was rotting wood on my 66-year old house. He showed me the pictures, discussed options, and made arrangements to start the project. The project took 2 days and the end result was perfection. Emanuel (the owner) is professional, responsive, a hard worker, shows up exactly when he says he'll be there, and his pricing is absolutely fair. I highly recommend this young man! Fire Pit Installation questions, answered by experts

While a hot fire can help heat up and loosen tar within your chimney, making it a recommended step before using a creosote log, it will not burn off significant existing buildup on its own. Attempting to remove built-up creosote with a hot fire is dangerous and can cause a chimney fire. For safe and effective removal of caked-on creosote, the best approach is to hire a professional chimney sweep.

Most homeowners put a layer of compact sand or gravel at the bottom of their firepit, but you can also choose more decorative options like fire-resistant paving stones, bricks, or fire pit glass. Dirt by itself can even work, but other materials do a better job of spreading the heat around.

In some cases, you can use a fireplace once the insert has been removed. However, before burning a fire, you must have a professional inspect it and the chimney to make sure they're functioning properly and no damage has occurred from removing the insert. That’s because using a fireplace without an insert could create fire hazards due to issues with airflow and heat dispersion, depending on the fireplace design and material. A professional can advise on whether you should make certain repairs or modifications before using your fireplace as an open hearth.

The short answer is yes, but the longer answer is more complex. Unless the fireplace is ventless by design, you’ll need some type of exhaust pipe system to safely send fumes and other harmful byproducts out of the house. Even then, ventless fireplaces are not always permitted because they do keep the byproducts inside of your house. Ventless fireplaces are safest when installed in spaces that are themselves well-ventilated, like large rooms with lots of windows.

Yes, you should seal and cap an unused chimney to protect it from damage. Sealing the structure helps prevent moisture damage, which can lead to issues like cracks, spalling, efflorescence, and damaged mortar joints. Capping the chimney is also crucial to prevent blockages, damage from invasive critters, and downdrafts, while still allowing for proper air ventilation to manage moisture. For the best results, consult a chimney professional to select the right type of chimney or flue cap for your home. It's also wise to continue with annual chimney inspections to maintain the structure's integrity.
