"Bryan D helped me with my new house alarm. Bryan was friendly and pleasant to work with. He took his time and listened to my needs for my desired level of security. (I am quite the paranoid person when it comes to home security!) He is extremely knowledgeable and was informative and thorough on all aspects of security, from the system functionality to do-it-yourself enhancements around my home. He gave me a ton of great advice and I feel 110% at ease with my security system! I highly recommend you work with Bryan at Alarm protect group!!"

"David was prompt and very thorough in helping resolve an issue with my TV. It wasn’t connecting to our Wi-Fi, and after troubleshooting he determined that the TV is older and was starting to lose its ability to maintain a stable wireless connection. He solved the issue by connecting it via Ethernet and also went the extra mile by updating and rebooting the system. In the end, we decided to purchase a Roku so we could download apps and stream certain channels, especially sports. David took the time to explain everything clearly and made sure everything was working properly before leaving. I highly recommend David for any technology services you may need—he is reliable, knowledgeable, and trustworthy."

Home Security Systems questions, answered by experts

Expect to spend an average of $150 to $500 to set up a home flood detection system. However, be aware that costs are wide-ranging. You might only spend a budget-friendly $50 to place basic, battery-operated sensors in a few key areas of your home, or $150 to set up two or three smart sensors. The purchase and professional installation of a whole-home protection system with water shutoff capabilities could cost between $500 and $1,000.

A home security system can be a worthwhile investment for several reasons. Financially, it may qualify you for a discount of up to 20% on your home insurance premiums, which can help offset the initial setup costs and any ongoing monitoring or subscription fees. For many, the primary benefit is the peace of mind that comes with enhanced security, especially for those living in areas with higher crime rates. Ultimately, whether a system is worth it depends on your personal preferences, the value of the assets you wish to protect, and your overall safety concerns.

Each has its use, depending on the scenario. Security doors are primarily intended to keep people out of the home, while storm doors are used to protect the home from extreme weather. Both tend to be made from heavy-duty metal and may include glass panels to allow light to enter the home. Storm doors can feature mesh screens, just like screen doors, to allow for increased ventilation and to keep out pests. Security doors rarely, if ever, have mesh screens.

This is the topic of much debate, though there is no “better,” as it depends on personal preferences. Some of the components of a wireless system keep working when the power goes out, as they are battery-powered. On the other hand, a wireless system typically connects to your modem and router. Wired systems use landlines to communicate, which never go out on their own unless they’re physically cut.

Standard residential deadbolt locks come with a steel bolt that locks your door into place using a key (or keypad) on one side and a thumb turn on the other. When you lock it, the bolt slides into a strike plate on your door jamb to secure your door shut.
