"I had a pipe leak under kitchen sink. Called for service about noon time on a Saturday. The plumber arrived arrived approximately 3:30 same day and replaced two sections of pipe. Plumber (Josh) was extremely courteous and quickly fixed the issue. This was my second time to use Nick's Plumbing services and both times was pleased with service."

"On Monday I called Kennâ s Plumbing and and scheduled an appointment for Wednesday from 12-2 for them to come out and check out why my garbage disposal wasnâ t working. The very nice dispatcher said she would let me know if they could come out earlier before Wednesday. She called and said she was sending technician Chance over at 3:30. He arrived and 5 minutes later he had the garage disposal fixed. Completely satisfied with all aspects of their customer service. I will continue to use Kennâ s Plumbing for all my plumbing need's. Plumbing questions, answered by experts

Yes, plumber's putty ensures a solid bond between the drain assembly and sink. Silicone is a good alternative if you prefer not to use plumber's putty. However, plumber's putty typically isn't visible from the outside of the drain, as you can wipe away any excess when done.

Yes, pipes can freeze during the winter months. If temps dip below 20 degrees Fahrenheit for six or more hours, your insulated pipes are more at risk, while uninsulated pipes can freeze if temps fall below 32 degrees for around 12 hours. Exterior pipes are more likely to freeze than interior pipes. The best way to prevent freezing pipes is by insulating your pipes, keeping your home’s temperature above 55 degrees, opening cabinets and doors containing pipes to promote circulation, dripping faucets, and disconnecting hoses.

A sewage ejector pump is necessary if you have any plumbing fixtures, such as a bathroom, laundry room, or sink, located below the level of your home's main sewer line. Standard plumbing relies on gravity to drain wastewater and solid waste into the municipal sewer system or a septic tank. For fixtures below this level, like those in a basement, gravity cannot move the waste upward. The ejector pump provides the force needed to pump the sewage up to the main line. Without one, wastewater from below-ground fixtures would back up, potentially causing a sewage overflow and flooding. If all of your plumbing is on the main floor or higher, gravity is sufficient and an ejector pump is not needed.

A toilet flapper will remain open when the chain that it is connected to is too short. The chain should lift the flapper just enough to allow it to open the rest of the way on its own. The chain should have just about half an inch of slack.

The type of valve that’s best for water shut-off is the ball valve. These are considered by many plumbers to be the most reliable type of valve, and they’re the type most used for main water shut-offs. These valves only require a quarter turn of a handle to open or close fully.
