"I had purchased tile and I only needed installation of it. I had received multiple bids and all of them were ridiculously high for this small of a job. I contacted RC Tile for a quote. Ruben responded the same day. The next morning I had a written quote and the following week the tile was installed. My husband and I did the demo of removing the carpet and cleaning the floors. Monday, 10-31-16, the tile was placed in my home office and hallway closet. Tuesday, 11-1-16, grouting was done. I wish all my home remodels had gone this smoothly! I highly recommend RC Tile. There still are fair and honest businesses left in Austin and he is one of them."

Generally speaking, it is better to cut tile wet when using a fast-moving wet saw to reduce dust and chipping. However, tile can be cut dry when using just about any cutting tool. Installing kitchen countertop tiles on a mold and moisture-resistant cement backer board is one of the best options. When fitted correctly on top of a plywood base, it’s stable and long-lasting. Old-fashioned cement board is economical, cuts neatly and easily with a circular or jigsaw, and screws into plywood without any difficulty.

Tile shouldn’t be set tight against the tub. Bathtubs can expand when filled, and they can shift slightly with the weight of occupants. For this reason, it’s important to leave a slight gap between the bathtub and the first row of tile. Aim for a narrow gap of approximately 1/16 of an inch, filled with caulk, to allow for this expansion and movement while still allowing for tile shower waterproofing.
