"Joe gave a reasonable quote based on pictures of where I needed to have tiles replaced.. He was easy to schedule with and contacted me a day before to confirm. The work was well done and looks so good I cannot tell the repairs from original! I would hire Tile & Grout Solutions again and recommend to anyone."

Customers say: True professional

"I thought that I had a simple grout repair project. But once the tile was removed, it was clear that the existing tile was not properly installed. Walter removed all the tile, installed cement board all around, added water proofing fabric under the tile, and then re-tiled everything. It looks great! And it's good to know that the tile is installed correctly. He was always punctual and polite, and kept me informed as he worked. I would recommend him without hesitation."

"The installers were very professional and courteous. My girlfriend and I both work from home, and the installers were very good at keeping the noise level low so that we were not interrupted. The only issue that I found with the installation was that a few of the tiles creeped a bit higher at one end causing a slight slant. It would not have even been noticeable if it wasn't for the fact that the area was butting up against an existing hardwood floor that required a transition. The manufactured transition did not fit properly because of it. However, they modified the transition and made it work.

"Lee and his team did a fantastic job with our Saltillo tile floors, and we had good communication from start to finish. Demo of our original tile floors was quick, and we discussed updates and what the next days of work would look like after each day of the renovation. Overall the floors look fantastic, unique, and exactly were what we were looking for in our home!"

Ceramic Tile questions, answered by experts

You can attach tiles to a wall using thin-set mortar. You’ll also need a notched trowel to create grooves within the adhesive so it flattens completely when pressed in and securely holds the wall tiles. Finally, you’ll need grout to smooth the gaps between the tiles and, ideally, a grout sealer to prevent mold. While it sounds simple enough, proper planning and execution are crucial, so carefully review the steps in this guide or hire a pro tile installer to complete this project.

You can let the tile sit without grout. Don’t panic if there’s a delay between installing the tiles and grouting. A substantial stoppage isn't a problem, provided you keep the tile surface clear of dust and debris. Also, avoid walking over less stable ungrouted floor tiles as they are more prone to premature cracking and shifting.

If you want your ceramic tiles to be evenly spaced and installation to take less time, spacers are a crucial part of the installation process.

The tile spacing you should use will depend on the tile and where you’re installing it. Choosing the right tile spacers to maintain a consistent gap between your tiles is tricky. Generally, tile spacing shouldn’t be less than 2 millimeters on walls and 3 millimeters on floors because of stress relief requirements. Getting it wrong can result in uneven tiles and early repairs.

When choosing between porcelain and ceramic tile, the best option depends on your specific needs, budget, and project application. Porcelain tile is generally more durable, denser, and harder than ceramic, making it a good choice for busy, high-traffic areas. It also offers superior moisture resistance, making it ideal for moisture-retaining spaces. However, porcelain is typically more expensive, and its hardness can make it brittle, potentially causing it to crack if a heavy object is dropped on it. In contrast, ceramic tile is a more budget-friendly option with lower material and installation costs. It is softer and easier to work with, making it a great choice for DIY projects. While not as durable as porcelain, ceramic is still a quality material suitable for many home applications, particularly small, decorative projects.
