"Very well. The audit confirmed my suspicions about little to no insulation in my attic and pointed out other issues. Very knowledgeable. No hard sales pitch. Coming out later in week to add insulation, clean air ducts and replace dryer vent."

"Saturday afternoon and I realized my home was not cool. The thermostat was 83 and climbing. I was able to contact A-Anderson HVAC and electrical. They were at my house in less than an hour and less than an hour later my AC was cooling. Dylan stayed long enough to check the air temperature coming out of the vents. He was very friendly, thorough, knowledgeable . Everyone from phone to personal service was great. The price was also in my expected range. I highly recommend this company."

"Yamil provides one of the best HVAC services in town. I installed both my AC with furnace with him. His knowledge of the field is wide and deep, and his experience is solid. He knows the ins-and-outs of air conditioning and heating like nobody else. Whether it comes to the equipment, or the common failings of different brands, or what works and what doesn't, he always has a ton of good ideas. On top of that, he is extremely responsive and courteous, resulting in a very rare combination of high-level technical know-how and superb customer service. He is also very conscious of saving costs for the customers. This company is my go-to answer for everything related to HVAC. I give him my best recommendations."

Air Conditioning FAQs, answered by experts

During the summer, it’s best to set your AC to 78 degrees when you’re home and awake, according to the Department of Energy (DOE). For better energy efficiency, raise the temperature slightly to 85 degrees while you’re out of the house. The National Sleep Foundation advises lowering your thermostat to between 60 and 67 degrees when you’re asleep.

Though it may seem redundant, you can absolutely have a central AC unit and a window AC in your home. In fact, if you place a window AC unit near your central air, it can help move the cooler air throughout your home. But doubling up on your AC methods can get pricey, so factor in cost accordingly.

Yes, it's normal for air conditioners to leak tiny amounts of water due to condensation. Under normal circumstances, all excess moisture travels to the drain pan to be pumped through your system's drain line. You should call a technician to diagnose the issue if you're noticing frequent leaking or pooling. It's also important to investigate if your homeowners insurance can cover water damage.

In some cases, yes, portable air conditioners are worth buying. They’re a relatively affordable option for cooling small spaces. (On average, they cost between $100 and $500 per unit.) Plus, they’re easy to set up, and you can move them around to cool various parts of your home as needed. However, they aren’t the most efficient AC option, and they tend to be noisy.

You may never need an AC recharge if there are no leaks. However, if your AC unit has a leak that cannot be patched appropriately, you’ll need an AC recharge every time the freon level drops low enough that it disrupts your system—this could be once every two to three years. It all depends on the size and frequency of the leak.
