John Moore has been a family-owned and operated business since 1965. We understand the trust you place in our company when you invite us into your home. “Call John & Get Moore” is more than our company’s slogan; it’s our pledge to you. We’ll explain everything and provide upfront, honest pricing options, so you feel confident from start to finish. We only hire the very best craftsman and give them the very best training and resources. All of our work is backed by the integrity of the John Moore name.
"CON ARTISTS. If you are elderly they will sell you unnecessary repairs. My Moms disposal was leaking and she had John Moore come out. The plumber said the one installed 6 months earlier during her remodel was junk. He quoted $800 to replace it. I went over and looking under the sink the collar was just loosened. Took me 20 seconds to fix it. Elderly beware!!! Recently they charged her $3k for an unnecessary clean out install. Shame on us for calling them back out."

"We had leak that left a couple of water spots in our home and I called this company because of the good reviews. But we were indeed scammed, the technician quoted us $21k for a “bellying of our pipes”. We had mentioned to the tech that everytime we noticed the wet spots it was when we ran our dishwasher but he never checked our dishwasher or anything. We asked him to do the camera to check our pipes and he concluded the ‘pipe bellying’ due to ‘erosion’ (The pipe camera service is $450 btw, another ridiculous amount.) Well first of all, our home is a NEW build, its less than 5 yrs old so it ddnt make sense to me, plus who has 21k? We went ahead and hired a different plumbing company and within the first 15mins they concluded that it was our dishwasher that was causing the leak! I saw it with my own eyes. They said that i just needed to replace our dishwasher. They said that there’s nothing wrong with our pipes. Which totally makes sense because we noticed the leak everytime we used our dishwasher. Plus they fixed our garbage disposal for FREE compared to Texas quality plumbing quoted us $750 for a new one. How ridiculous. I called Texas quality plumbing because it was upsetting to get quoted 21k and i also asked for the video recording and pictures and a detailed report of the pipe camera service they provided and they cannot provide me with the report. They said ‘we can come out again and the tech will do it again and explain to you where he found the bellying’. They said that they dont even have the initial recording! Another thing to add, since we stopped using our dishwasher we haven’t had ANY LEAKS! PLEASE PLEASE BE CAUTIOUS WHEN USING THIS COMPANY AND MAKE SURE TO GET A SECOND OPINION! THIS COMPANY CHARGED US A RIDICULOUS AMOUNT OF MONEY AND THEY MISDIAGNOSED WHAT WAS WRONG! BOOK A DIFFERENT COMPANY! Attached are photos of their ridiculous prices. Also there’s nothing wrong with our toilets but they also added that we needed to replace them as well. 🤦🏽♀️"

"Contacted Philip on 7/24/2023 to perform a gas line pressure test on one of my apartments. Paid him in full on 7/25/2023. Plumber put in gauge on 7/27/2023. Inspector came out on 7/31/2023 and failed it because it did not have a tag and because of a "low test". Since then, rather than making the corrections and rescheduling the inspection, Philip has either not answered the phone and texts, said he would reschedule but not follow through, or given excuses like 1) he's overbooked, 2) he woke up with a fever, 3) etc. Today is 8/10/2023 and I've had to hire another plumber to do the job. I told him that I had people, that I did not want to lose, waiting to move into the apartment. He clearly did not care because he had been paid in full and did not care about my issues. I had stopped using them for awhile because they could not keep appointments but decided to give them another chance. After this, they've lost my business forever."

The regulations around whether drain pipe installers need to hold licenses or certifications differ based on where you live and the type of drain pipe installed. Municipalities have varying rules and regulations about who can and can’t perform plumbing work. However, we recommend hiring a certified plumber to install or modify your drain lines. Licensed plumbers will perform a high-quality, professional installation, which translates to a lower risk of clogs and leaks in the future. Use Angi’s state licensing tool to confirm the license status of your potential plumber before hiring them to install your drain pipe.
Plumbers will typically take one to two hours to install a new drain pipe, but that timeline can vary based on the area’s accessibility, the drain length, and the type of drain line. Replacing an easily accessible p-trap under a sink could take as little as a half an hour, while replacing a larger section of drain line behind the wall could take as long as three to four hours. When hiring a plumber for your specific installation, ask them to provide an estimated timeline to get a more accurate assessment.
You might need a permit to modify or repair any portion of your plumbing system, including drainage lines, depending on where you live. In some areas, simple replacements of existing drain lines don’t require a permit. We recommend asking your drain pipe installer or your local building department about permitting requirements. In many cases, only certified plumbers can pull plumbing permits, so you’ll usually need to leave the permit application to your professional. The fee for the permit will be passed to you on your project bill, though.
We highly recommend leaving the work of replacing drain pipes to a professional plumber. Drain pipes are a key part of your plumbing system, and making mistakes during the installation or even using the wrong size pipes for your specific fixture can lead to an elevated risk of leaks and clogs. Additionally, drain pipes prevent harmful sewer gas from entering your home, so hiring a professional plumber is essential to keeping the risk of leaks and clogs low and avoid reducing your indoor air quality.
The cost to install a drain pipe is $600 on average, but the total can range between $150 and $2,000. Some cost factors that influence your project price include the type of drain, the area’s accessibility, the proximity of existing drain lines, and whether you’re installing a new drain or replacing an old one. Replacing the p-trap or s-trap under a single fixture will usually cost around $150, while replacing a main drain pipe can cost well over $2,000.
