"Very professional, friendly, competent, and detail-oreinted shower installers. They explained everything well, made sure the grab bars were at the perfect height and places for our 90-year-old dad, started and finished the installation the same day and even wiped down our floor afterwards. Dad is able to shower safely and comfortably and he likes the upgraded showerhead. We are all very happy we chose Hill Country Tub and Shower to replace our mobile home's cramped tub and shower with a walk-in shower."

"Fina was imoressive with her installation skills. She had to custom built my new shower. She demolished the linen closet to double the size of the shower. Beyond pleased with the final product. Fina worked meticulously frim start to finish. She left the work area spitless at the end of each working day. I was pleased with every aspect from beginning to end of this project. Fina has great customer service and we will miss her now that the job is done. We will ceryainly request Fina on our next Bath Fitter remodel."

"I initially gave this company a bad review due to a call, No show. Melissa from scheduling called me on Monday to do some follow up and told them no one came, she apologized profusely and we rescheduled for today Frank Bamford the VP from the company personally came out to give us a quote and apologize for the inconvenience. I have to say im very impressed. Frank was punctual and gave us a quote my husband and I are. Seriously thinking it over. Thank you Energy Home Pros for coming out and making things right, this is why I wanted to make a change in my previous rating."

"It went fine. Paint looks incredible, the curtains help me sleep, and the fans are keeping the house cool. Mark was thorough on his pre and post inspection and resolved any issues we had. We’ve hired contractors in the past and the experience was nothing like this. Mark kept his word, and from our past experiences with other remodeling contractors, that’s rare. If we need anything else, Mark will be our first call."

"Joe Valdez of Windmill Heritage Contracting personalized the remodeling services I needed so that I did not have to move out, although the work was throughout the house. It included removal of ceiling texture in eight rooms and painting two bedrooms (walls and trim). They reworked kitchen cabinets and replaced countertops in both the kitchen and two baths, adding and replacing both indirect and decorative lighting fixtures. The workers were polite and careful with moving/protecting my furnishings and flexible in the timing of the work when personal issues came up. Joe went to what seemed like extra efforts to save costs on some things, keeping the overall budget quite reasonable. Overall, it was like working with family!"

Bathtub Replacement questions, answered by experts

You should consider replacing your bathtub if the tub—or any potential refinishing—is older than about 20 years old. However, acrylic and fiberglass bathtubs have a shorter lifespan (about 10 to 15 years). You may decide to replace your bathtub sooner if there are stains or mold you can’t get rid of, no matter how much you clean it, or if you find leaks and cracks that could lead to costly water damage.

The diverter valve in your bathtub is responsible for diverting water between your tub spout and your shower head. If water comes out of both at the same time, you have a faulty diverter valve. You can have a plumber replace this for you, or you can replace it yourself if you have some experience working with plumbing fixtures.

A powder room cannot have a bath. If it had a bath, it would likely be considered a three-quarter bath or full bath, depending on the other features. You might hear the term “powder room” used to describe a bathroom used by guests, but it wouldn’t technically be a powder room. However, powder rooms or half baths are ideal for guests because they can use it without entering the more private areas of the home.

Different bathtub materials have various advantages and disadvantages. Cast iron and copper are considered the most durable materials because they are dense and resistant to damage from scratches or dents. However, cast-iron tubs are heavy, expensive, and may not be suitable for upper floors. Copper offers unique benefits but requires regular chemical treatment to prevent a patina from forming, making cast iron a less maintenance-intensive option. Porcelain is a good second choice for durability. For those on a budget, acrylic is a popular option, though it is less durable.

Acrylic tubs are extremely durable and rarely chip or crack. Even when frequently used, tubs made with this material are largely resistant to damage. However, damage may occur as the tub ages. They can also crack from damage from heavy objects and cleaners or a lack of support.
