"I can't say enough good things about Alan and Sara at ACB Services. First of all, Alan and his crew can do anything and they do it all really well. Their drywall work was the best I've ever seen and he seems to know exactly what he's talking about on electrical. Sara is the best coordinator and they are both very good at communicating so you are not left in the dark on what they are doing or when it is going to be done. I would trust them to do any project in my house."

"Mario has been our Handyman for over the last 5yrs. He's remolded our home by putting down title in our home. He has remodeled both of our bathrooms, he put in receding lighting through out our home. He's installed ceiling fans. He also setup our backup generator. Mario does excellent work, and I won't use any other contractor on my home. 5 stars to Mario for his awesome work. 👍👍👍👍👍"

"Henry has done everything from staining our pavilion and fence, trim work that no one could get right and the painting is top notch. If you have ever done a Sheetrock repair and it not match - their team just did four from settlement in our house. It’s my house and can’t tell where they were repaired. He has been with us since 2020. He and his family are amazing. Highly recommend. We had his wife clean our house. She did a great job as well."

Drywall questions, answered by experts

Yes, it matters which side of drywall you use. One side is smooth, and the other is rough. The smooth side should be facing outward, toward the room, while the rough side should be hidden and facing the studs and framing of the house. The smooth side will be easier to apply tape, joint compound, and, later, paint to.

You should stagger drywall sheets to help prevent cracking. The joints between drywall sheets are the weak spots, so if you install drywall with seams aligned, you’ll create weak lines that run across the length of the wall and extend from floor to ceiling. But when you stagger drywall, the solid sections of panels will support the joints. This can prevent seams from cracking or separating due to fluctuating temperature and humidity, vibrations from movement inside the home, and gravity.

Yes, wainscoting is installed directly over drywall. However, ensure the drywall is in good shape since it will support the wainscoting. If the drywall has issues, such as holes, mold, or mildew, repair them before installing the wainscoting. Alternatively, you can install a plywood substrate before attaching the trim.

Yes, drywall can hold a 50-pound TV. However, when mounting a TV, you’ll either need to attach it to wall studs or use drywall anchors. If you use anchors, make sure to buy a type that can hold at least 50 pounds. Molly bolts, threaded anchors, and toggle bolts are all good options. For extra support, you can also install a wall mounting plate with the anchors.

Water-damaged drywall should almost always be replaced. Not only does it look bad, it’s a breeding ground for toxic mold. Even if you think the area is dry and there’s no active leak, the only way to be sure is to cut out the damaged area and see for yourself.
