Small jobs welcome

"If you want a really great painter hands down (believe me I have worked with 8 other painters in the past that were a night mare) call Nick Kisley from Ace in the Hole Painting tel:210-941-4178 Schertz, Texas, [*** Link removed ***] you will love him. He just finished repairing damaged sheetrock in our bedroom closet from a old roof leak we had that was previously repaired (yrs .ago )very poorly. He did a beautiful job. He taped ,floated and matched the texture perfectly, u can not tell it was a repair job.I interviewed a bunch of painters and he was the best, prices are fair ,he is very dependable , (came every day on time ,and texted me twice per my request ie.when he was on his way and again when he got to my gate)easy to work with (really listened to what I wanted him to do ,used the products I requested and gave me his professional opinion as well )and takes pride in his work,(made sure I was happy with the job, did not skimp on supplies, properly prepared the site to my expectations, cleaned up after himself in a professional manner, respecting my wishes as to where he could clean his hopper etc. ) He also responds very quickly to your request for a bid and request for references then any other painter or contractor I have worked with.He also responds very quickly to any questions/concerns pre and post job .All his past clients I talked to ,love his work and he has all positive reviews on Angie's list, not one neg. comment. He does all of his own work with a helper, he does not subcontract it out .He is very good at taping and floating and painting. He painted our entire closet ,walls, ceilings , base boards and inside closet door. He also power washed our metal pool fence, step railings and patio /pool area and for our pool fence and step railings he sanded down the rust spots and primed those spots and painted our fence with DTM Sherwin Williams paint and it looks great. Also he even picked up some extra paint I requested for a small project I am doing and gave me his store discount and he also gave me advise on what color he recommended and how to properly paint the gate and even hooked up my trailer to my pilot when I had trouble doing it twice .He is a gem.I highly recommend him.Read his reviews on Angie's List: ,just put his co.name in the search bar.Any questions feel free to call me 210-861-3107.Can send before and after pictures of jobs done per reqest if contact info. given."

"Jonathan came the day after I reached out. He was very helpful in recommending a repair for our broken brick. At our request, he also identified other areas that could become potential problems and divided our bid to separate the needed repairs from the recommended repairs. I’m waiting to hear if the repair person will be here Saturday or next week. As a quick fix Jonathan was kind enough to put some mortar in the broken brick. With rain coming hopefully we can determine if that is causing the leak or if there is something else we can’t see."

"It went well at the beginning but they became more hurried I assume because they had other work. The wooden gate had several pickets removed because it would no longer fit. He claimed it was because the wall was crooked. He came back to redo the gate and repair some cracks in the concrete. The gate was banging into the hardware and breaking, still crooked. Cracks appeared again in the concrete. So I called him several times and he said he would come back but didn t show. He texted me last week after he didn t show up to say he would be here today at 10:00 AM. He was not here at 10:00 so I texted him at 10:30. I told him he never contacted me to say he was not coming. He texted shortly thereafter and said he would be here today. He showed up at 11:55 and no apologies just asked me to show him what I was talking about. I started to tell him and he got defensive and said he told me the wall was crooked and that the cracks in the concrete were normal. He said that I was just nitpicking and he cursed me and I cursed back. He came back and got in my face. Telling me to repeat what I said and he cursed me and told me to get in the house. I felt threatened and so I walked away. He walked to his truck and in the middle of the street, he kept yelling F you, F you. He got in his truck finally and tore off."

"2 different crews performed the job. Ignacio and his crew performed the pier and beam job. The work was done in a timely manner, all the crew worked very hard each day they were on the job. Ignacio went above and beyond while having to deal with rain and plumbing leaks (yes, Ignacio fixed the leaks). Robert and his crew worked on the porch slab. They were all professional and kept us informed during the various stages of the job. We also had our sidewalk repaired, thank you Josh. We would highly recommend Foundation Support Specialists. We are very satisfied with their work and all their staff. They also cleaned up the job site and removed all debris."

Customers say: True professional

"Ruben is friendly, accommodating, and knowledgeable in both residential and commercial, but subcontracts some work. He did a descent job building a few interior office walls and correcting most of his mistakes, but is best suited working in areas not occupied. You?ll want to provide sketches with measurements to ensure no miscommunication (e.g., exact light placement/height). The statement of work should specify how the area should be prepped for construction/painting, what constitutes a finished project (e.g., baseboards included or not, what will be painted), and how the area will be restored. Our main issue was lack of proper construction/paint dust mitigation and covering floors/walls/ceiling/furniture with the right materials. He caused damage to the flooring (carpets and wood), baseboards, and one of the sprinkler heads. The latter being at least $1200 to repair. He tried to clean, but it was too much. So he wrote off the unpaid balance to help reimburse us."

Wall Repair questions, answered by experts

Installation typically takes 1-2 weeks, depending on the wall’s size and site conditions.

Poured concrete is often the cheapest material for a retaining wall, costing around $6 to $8 per square foot. Other budget-friendly options include vinyl and landscaping timbers, which range from $10 to $15 per square foot; landscaping timbers are particularly well-suited for DIY projects. Untreated timber and railroad ties are a step up in price, starting at $15 to $25 per square foot. Natural stones can also be a cost-effective choice if you can source them from your own property, but they can be expensive to purchase. High-end materials like steel are typically the most expensive but offer superior durability and aesthetics.

Generally, a railroad tie retaining wall consisting of a single line of ties should be between 3 and 4 feet tall—and the height often tops out at around 6 feet. You can go taller, but you may need additional footings and reinforcements, including a second layer of railroad ties to support the added weight of the soil it’s holding back.

Failure to compact the soil during construction is the most common cause of leaning retaining walls. In addition, poor drainage can lead to excessive water pressure behind a retaining wall, pushing against it until it begins to move forward away from the soil it is holding back.

The lifespan of a retaining wall varies based on its material, installation quality, maintenance, and local climate, with an average range of 20 to 100 years. Retaining walls made from durable materials like concrete, stone, and brick generally last a minimum of 50 years. Concrete walls typically last between 50 and 100 years, while brick can last for over a century in ideal conditions. Timber retaining walls can last from 20 to 40 years, depending on the wood quality, and pressure-treated wood walls average around 30 years. It is important to note that a retaining wall can fail prematurely if it was poorly constructed, for example, with inefficient footings or without necessary rebar reinforcements.
