"Fabulous. Gustavo was on time, courteous and conscientious. His crew was great. Stucco repair is difficult, but it looks brand new and matches the old stucco perfectly. Very pleased with his work and hi pricing"

"Jeff's crew repaired stucco and repainted the exterior and trim of my house last summer. Stucco repairs had to be re-done in some locations, but they were taken care of and have held up well. Trim & gutters were neatly painted, looks great. Were responsive to touch-ups requested wtihin a month or two. Have referred them to several homes in my neighborhood."

Customers say: Quick response

"WOW!!! I can not saw enough about the work, craftsmanship and professionalism from ZunTex. I have received a ton of compliments on the finished project. The first project was a 6 ft stone wall with columns and capped top. I was so impressed that I got them back out to build an outdoor kitchen area. We have the 3rd project schedule to continue the stone wall. The area was kept clean and best of all they finished when they say they would. They are reasonable in pricing and are very courteous. Sorry i was unable to load picture to site (over max file size)."

Stucco questions, answered by experts

A standard drill will work just fine if you’re drilling small holes, and only a few of them. But anything with a diameter larger than 3/8 inch is best done with a hammer drill, since it is stronger, faster, and also makes your drill bits last longer. While you don’t absolutely need a hammer drill for stucco, it is a worthy investment if you think you might drill more holes down the road.

Yes, you can screw directly into stucco. Only do so if the item you are installing is a permanent fixture. Drill a pilot hole into the stucco using a masonry or concrete bit, then drive in the screw with a power drill or screwdriver.

All of the components of stucco are non-combustible, so the siding material won’t ignite or spread fire to the interior of your home. However, it also expands and contracts with changes in temperature, so it will crack from long exposure to heat. Eventually, fire will spread through those cracks. Still, stucco is one of the best siding materials for fire protection and can keep you and your family safe for an hour, on average.

Stucco is very challenging to DIY, so it’s always best to leave the work to professional stucco contractors. The same recommendation applies to painting a stucco house, which should be left in the reliable hands of a professional exterior painter. Inexperienced DIYers can make several critical mistakes during stucco application, such as:

  • Failing to apply sufficiently thick layers for longevity and water resistance

  • Uneven application

  • Uneven texture across the exterior

  • Mixing the stucco improperly, leaving a weak structure

  • Failing to texture properly in between coats, leading to cracking and chipping

Several clues suggest that your stucco is damaged or has underlying issues. Visual clues include discoloration, cracks, indentations, broken caulking, or visible mold. If you touch your stucco and feel any soft spots, that could also indicate a problem. If you notice any of these concerns, call in an inspector who can confirm your suspicions and help provide solutions.
