EMJ Outdoor is a full service excavating, grading, demolition and site clearing company in both Residential and Commercial applications. Owned and operated by Eric Johnson who has a degree in Civil Engineering and over 20 years of industry experience. Some of our services include pool demo and fill-ins, concrete/rock breaking and haul off, brush and tree clearing, field and fence line mowing, dirt/gravel delivery and installation and just about anything else that can be done outdoors with heavy equipment.

"Eric, the owner, met me personally to go over what I needed done in my backyard. He was able to provide me a quote quickly and was much more competitive than another company I got pricing from. I am doing a major backyard renovation and needed grading done prior to new concrete being poured and sod laid. The other trades schedules had openings and Eric was able to start earlier than expected to accommodate. Would recommend and use again in the future."

Senon's Masonry has been serving the Greater Austin Area exclusively for the past nine years. At Senon's Masonry, we pride ourselves in making your outdoors more than just the outdoors, with the incredible skill and talent that comes from the true passion we have for masonry.

"First of all, I called a number of highly rated/recommended masonry companies and Senon's was literally the only one who got back to me in a timely manner. I don't know what is up with the other companies, but I was not impressed with the other guys right off the bat. Second, not only did Senon's respond, but they took a look a picture of an issue with my limestone exterior that I was concerned with (a crack in between some bricks), advised me that it needed to be fixed quickly (regardless of who we went with) because it could cause allow water to seep in. And they were able to work me into their schedule right away. Finally, their work was amazing, the new mortar matched the existing mortar perfectly so you couldn't even tell we had work done! And they were so nice. They charge a minimum, and because I had written off the other guys as crummy businessmen, I really had no idea if the price was fair or comparable. But I don't even care. Because their work was fantastic and they were quick, it was worth it to me."

"I was referred to Jodi based on good feedback I heard from a Holistic Event here. It was a very insightful consultation and I decided to try Cbd to help with my anxiety. Jodi also recommended l-theanine, which I purchased at peoples pharmacy. The Cbd I purchased through Jodi and over the past 3 weeks, I have felt a significant improvement. I appreciated her telling e to keep my doctor in the loop, and is very educated about herbs and EFT techniques. Very happy with her services."

Southern Outdoor Appeal is in the business of creating beautiful backyards by building the areas that homeowners want to spend time around. We design and build custom decks of all shapes, sizes and materials, patio covers, arbors/ pergolas, enclosed/screen-in porches, outdoor kitchens, firepits, fencing and so much more. We are a family owned business with more than 30 years of construction experience. This company started in the Houston area in 1997 and has since moved into the Austin area. We offer a lifetime craftsmanship warranty on every structure we build. We have the same great group of guys on every job and there is always a superintendent on the job to talk to about your project. We also have great subs to handle specialty services such as electrical and plumbing on every job so that the homeowner is getting a licensed and insured specialist at all times. We do provide free consultations for every job. We also design your perfect project using 3D color renderings from two different design programs. Additional DBA - Southern Outdoor Appeal LLC. Additional email - [email protected].

"Initially we were excited to work with Matt and Sunnie Channel- Matt has great charisma and talked over details with us about a deck design we came up with- offering tips on what he would do differently and truly appearing to care about the project. They provided a great design that we were happy with so we decided to move forward with Southern Outdoor Appeal. We signed our contract in February 2024 with written assurance that the project would be complete by the end of May/first week of June as I was planning my daughters 2nd birthday party that was going to be held in the backyard and needed it to be complete by then. Months went by without any movement. I began emailing asking when we would expect to begin framing, worried we were pushing close to the end of May and no work had begun and I was met with many excuses. I was then informed Matt tried to subcontract the job and was planning to keep the 30% deposit we placed in February and there was no discussion about this with him or Sunnie. They expected the company they were trying to dump our project on to eat this cost and finish what had not even begun. It all unraveled more from here when I personally spoke with three other neighbors in Circle C who were dealing with the same situation. Some of these families lost much more than the almost $6k we put down. 1+ years have gone by without movement for some of these other families which is appalling. They are STILL met with excuses as to why no work has been completed but are so financially invested they don’t know what to do. When my husband called to cancel the project and request our 30% deposit back (as no work AT ALL had begun), he was met with resistance from Matt. He even mentioned my daughters birthday party as a reason not to cancel the project- trying to guilt us into continuing the project so we could host the party. From our perspective, he likely had no intention to ever begin the project/or could have begun framing and halted work after receiving more payment installations-as is the case with other families in the Circle C area. On top of all of this- Matts wife, Sunnie, finally replied to one of my many emails regarding refund after I offered to pay $1000 for two 20min or less visits by Matt for his “time” but asked they pay the difference from the 30% deposit. In her email, she agreed to this repayment plan and even sent a credit memo. I waited months and never received any money. She finally cancelled my Venmo request days ago (which is how I initially paid them)- indicating she has no intention of fulfilling her side of the deal. They have no right to my or anyone else’s money as it appears they are not using it toward its intended purpose. God forbid something awful is going on behind closed doors for their family but if that’s the case, don’t even start a project you know you can’t finish. It is not fair to the people who are investing/trusting them. I highly encourage anyone considering working with them to not. Do not make the same mistake we did."

Patios questions, answered by experts

Concrete steps need concrete footings, which is a type of foundation. They are made of concrete with rebar reinforcement poured into a trench. The footings support the stairs, spread the vertical load, and prevent the steps from sinking. Footings need to be below the maximum depth that the ground freezes, typically at least 42 inches in depth.

When comparing pavers versus a concrete patio, paver patios tend to be more costly than their concrete counterparts. However, the total cost depends on the type of materials you use and the size of the patio. If your patio needs repairs, a paver patio will be easier and less costly to fix, even though it’s more expensive upfront. Plus, a paver patio won’t bump up your property taxes, while a concrete patio will.

Asphalt driveways are affordable and able to withstand sub-zero temperatures. The asphalt surface makes it easy to plow snow, and it has excellent traction for slippery winter days. Another benefit: it absorbs heat from the sun and can then help to melt snow and ice more quickly than other surfaces.

In most cases, you will need a building permit for cement work on your property. You need a permit for any project that adds a permanent foundation on your property—which, in most cases, includes even a flat slab of concrete poured directly on the ground. Building permits for concrete projects usually cost between $100 and $500, although this can get higher for larger projects. You can always ask your cement company if a permit is necessary for your project, and the expert will typically pull the permit for you to save you time and energy.

Usually 2-3 days, plus additional curing time before full use.
